  • Appoints his son Humphrey Sylvester Jordan Ansell, brother-in-law Roy Charman Downing and friend William Henry Castle of 34 Warnborough Rd Oxford, architect and surveyor, as Executors and trustees, and gives each £50 free of duty.
  • To wife Annie Eliza Ansell £100 as soon as possible, as a priority.
  • To sister Elizabeth Sarah Walters £100.
  • To daughter Annie Janet Newton £5000.
  • To his wife an annuity of £300 free of duty for life in 12 equal monthly payments.
    Executors are to retain enough from the estate monies to ensure the annuity.
    After her death the rest is to sink into the residuary estate.
  • The leasehold house in which he lives, Lilford Lodge, Banbury Rd, Oxford, with its outbuildings, furniture and effects of domestic, garage or garden use or ornament, to the trustees In Trust to sell it, the proceeds going equally to his wife and children (except for daughter Annie Janet Newton).
    But the sale is only to be made with the written consent of his wife while she wants to live there personally, she paying the ground rent, observing all conditions in the lease, and providing a home for the unmarried children on reasonable terms.
    She forfeits the right to live there if she is there for less than 6 months in any year, unless the absence is deemed unavoidable by the trustees.
  • To son Humphrey Sylvester Jordan Ansell all his share in the firm of “James Russell & Co” (in partnership with him and his son) at 120 High St, and 3 Alfred St, High St, Oxford; also the freehold shop, warehouses etc at 3 Alfred St (previously the Masonic Hall) in which the business is carried on.
  • To the trustees all the rest of his real and personal property, In Trust to pay funeral and testamentary expenses, debts, legacies, death duties etc.
  • Residue In Trust for his children Edward Roy, Gertrude Elizabeth Dorothy, George Richard Downing and Walter Philip Cecil in equal shares.
  • Son Humphrey Sylvester Jordan is to have the option of purchasing the 2 freehold shops at 109 & 110 St Aldates St, Oxford, for £3500, the option to be declared within 2 years of his death.
    He may also purchase any part of the Trust estate at a sale (conducted by the other trustees) or a price fixed by a valuer appointed by them.

Appoint son Humphrey Sylvester Jordan Ansell and brother in law Roy Charman Downing and friend William Henry Castle of 34 Warnborough Rd. Oxford, architect and surveyor to be executors and trustees.
Legacies free of duty - £50 to each of the executors.
To wife Annie Eliza Ansell £100 as soon as possible after his death for her immediate use and as a priority.
To sister Elizabeth Sarah Walters £100.
To daughter Annie Janet Newton £5000.
To wife during her life an annuity of £300 clear of death duties, from his death, 12 equal monthly payments.
Executors to review and retain if necessary from the estate monies to ensure the annuity to his wife. When the annuity ceases then the rest to sink into the residuary estate.
The leasehold dwellinghouse, Lilford Lodge, Banbury Rd., Oxford, in which he lives, with outbuildings and appurtances, furniture, effects of domestic garage or garden use or ornament to the trustees on trust to sell (with power to postpone sale) proceeds equally for his wife and children except for daughter Annie Janet Newton. But the sale only on written consent of his wife whilst she wants to live there personally. She to pay the ground rent and provide a home for the unmarried children on reasonable terms. Also to observe all covenants and conditions in the lease.

To the trustees on trust all the rest of real and personal property to deal with as they thought necessary in order to pay funeral and testamentary expenses, debts, legacies, death duties etc.
Residue in trust for his children, Edward Roy, Gertrude Elizabeth Dorothy, George Richard Downing, Walter Philip Cecil, in equal shares.
Son Humphrey Sylvester Jordan shall have the option of purchasing the 2 freehold shops 109, 110 St. Aldates St., Oxford, at £3500. Option to be declared in writing within 2 years of his death.
Son Humphrey may purchase any part of the estate bequeathed in trust at a sale or auction or private sale (conducted by the other trustees) or price fixed by a valuer appointed by the trustees.
