  • I declare that all the foregoing legacies and annuities shall be free of duty which shall be paid out of my general residuary estate.
  • I bequeath all my real estate and all my personal estate and effects to my Trustees Upon Trust that they shall ... convert it into money ... as they think fit with full discretion [and the usual protection] and:
    • Pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and legacies
    • Make provision for the payment of any Annuities and the duty on any legacies or annuities.
    • Hold the residue In trust for my four surviving children James Arnold Boffin, Mary Winifred Richards, Edith Lucy Davys Nikitits and George Herbert Wigley Boffin in equal shares
    • If any of my children shall die in my lifetime leaving issue living at my death and over 21, such issue shall take their own parent's share equally between them
  • My Trustees shall set apart and invest enough money to cover the Annuities for the time being payable under my Will. When the Annuities expire that money shall fall into my residuary estate
  • Herbert Torry Baines being a Solicitor shall be entitled to be paid all usual professional or proper charges in connection with proving my Will and administering the trusts
  • Barclays Bank shall have a free hand in the above matters; that all capital moneys, securities etc relating to any Trust shall be retained by the Bank in its exclusive custody; that no appointment of new Trustee(s) shall be made without the consent in writing of the Bank if then remaining a Trustee.

This is the last and only Will of me ALFRED BOFFIN of 221 Woodstock Road, Oxford, Gentleman.
1. I appoint Barclays Bank Limited and Herbert Torry Baines of 58 Cornmarket Street, Oxford Executors and Trustees of
this my Will and I bequeath to the said Herbert Torry Baines if he shall prove my Will a legacy of Two Hundred pounds.
2.I bequeath the following pecuniary legacies namely:- To my son James Arnold Boffin Six thousand pounds. To my daughter Mary
Winifred Richards Six thousand pounds. To my daughter Edith Lucy Davys Nikitits Five thousand pounds. To my son George Herbert
Wigley Boffin five thousand pounds. To my Granddaughter Ethel Gladys Munro Two thousand pounds. To my Granddaughter Irene
Richards and my Grandsons Bernard Richards and Richard Richards Five thousand pounds each. To my Granddaughter Elizabeth
Nikitits Five hundred pounds. To my Great Granddaughter Pamela Richards Two Hundred pounds. To my sister Emilia Munro One
thousand pounds. To my son-in-law the reverend Francis Charles Gillespie Three hundred pounds. To my sons-in-law Otto Nikitits and
John Richards One hundred pounds each. To my cousin Nellie Railton One thousand pounds and to Nurse Ethel Booth of 8 Lonsdale
Road, Oxford One hundred pounds.
3.I bequeath the following further pecuniary legacies namely :- To the Radcliffe Infirmary & County Hospital Oxford Two hundred
pounds. To the Oxford Eye Hospital Two hundred pounds. To St Dunstans Home for blinded Soldiers and Sailors Two hundred
pounds. To the Young Mens Christian Association One hundred pounds. To the Royal National Lifeboat Institution One hundred
pounds. To the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen One hundred pounds. To the Trustees of Wesley Hall Cowley Road,
Oxford One hundred pounds. To the Trustees of Wesley Memorial Church New Inn Hall Street Oxford One hundred pounds and to the
Vicar and Churchwardens of St Philip and St James Church, Oxford One hundred pounds.
4. I bequeath the following Annuities, that is to say - To my Cousin Polly Boffin of Oxford an Annuity of Thirty Pounds during her
life and to Annie Game (at present in my service) an annuity of Twenty Five pounds during her life such respective annuities to
commence from my death and to be payable by equal quarterly payments and the first payment thereof to be made at the expiration of
three calendar months from my death.
5. I declare that all the foregoing legacies and annuities shall be free of duty which shall be paid out of my general residuary estate.
6. I devise and bequeath all my real estate and all my personal estate and effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto my said Trustees
Upon Trust that they shall sell call in collect and convert the same into money at such time to times and in such manner as they shall
think fit and so that they shall have the fullest power and discretion to postpone the sale calling in or conversion of the whole or any
part or parts of the said premises including leaseholds or other property of a terminable or wearing out nature during such period as
they shall think proper without being responsible for loss and shall out of the monies to arise from the sale calling in and conversion of
my said real said real and personal estate or out of my ready money pay my funeral and testamentary expenses and debts and the
legacies bequeathed by this my Will or any Codicil hereto and make provision for the payment of any Annuities so bequeathed and the
duty on any legacies or annuities bequeathed free of duty And shall stand possessed of the net residue of such monies
In trust for my four surviving children the said James Arnold Boffin, Mary Winifred Richards, Edith Lucy Davys Nikitits and George
Herbert Wigley Boffin in equal shares and I declare that if either of my said four surviving children shall die in my lifetime leaving a
child or children who shall be living at my death and shall attain or shall have attained the age of twenty one years such child or children
shall take and if more than one equally between them the share in my said residuary trust estate which their parent would have taken if
he or she had survived me.
7. My Trustees shall set apart and invest in any investments authorised by law in the case of trust funds with power to vary investments
such a sum of money as will when invested produce by the income thereof an annual sum equal to the amount of
the Annuities for the time being payable under my Will and apply the income or (if necessary) the capital of the fund so appropriated in
payment of the said Annuities which fund or such parts thereof as may not be required to answer any subsisting Annuity shall on the
dropping of the respective Annuities fall into and form part of my residuary estate and until such sum shall be so appropriated
charge my residuary personal estate with the said Annuities but after appropriation my residuary estate shall be thereby discharged from
the said Annuities.
8. I declare that the said Herbert Torry Baines being a Solicitor shall be entitled to be paid all usual professional or proper charges for
business transacted time expended and acts done by him or any partner of his in connection with proving my Will and administering the
trusts hereof including acts which an Executor or Trustee not being in any profession or business could have done personally.
9. I further declare as follows :- (a) The said Bank may act by its proper officer or officers and employ and pay any agent or
agents to transact any business required to be done hereunder and shall be allowed and paid all charges and expenses incurred by it.
(b) The said Bank shall be entitled to remuneration (including the customary share of brokerage) in accordance with the said Bank's
scale of fees or remuneration now in force such remuneration to be free from duties and deductions and to be paid or retained out of the
capital or income of my estate or the appropriate part or parts thereof in priority to all other payments. (c) The said Bank may act
as Banker and transact any Banking or allied business on behalf of or in connection with my estate or the trusts hereof upon the same
terms as would for the time being be made with an ordinary customer in the usual course of business and without being liable to
account for any profit made thereby. (d) All capital moneys, securities, title deeds and documents for the time being belonging or
relating to any Trust hereby created shall be deposited with and retained by the said Bank in its exclusive custody (but subject to all
reasonable facilities for inspection or verification by the other Trustees or Trustee) and in the case of Registered Stocks Shares
Securities or property the name of the said Bank shall always be placed first in the register.
And no appointment of new Trustee or new Trustees hereof shall be made without the consent in writing of the said Bank if then
remaining a Trustee. In witness whereof I have to each sheet of this my Will contained in this and the preceding two sheets of paper set
my hand this eighth day of August One thousand nine hundred and twenty eight.
