  • Revoking all former wills ...
  • I give the following money legacies, to be paid within six months after my decease:
    • £20 to my eldest daughter Joane Hoare, wife of John Hoare.
    • £80 to my daughter Elinor.
    • £50 to my daughter Mary.
    • £50 to my daughter Rebeckah (to be paid at age 21).
    • £100 to my son Tymothy (to be paid at age 21).
      The interest is to be paid to him yearly, beginning within six months after my decease, until that time.
  • I give twenty of my best sheep to my son William Bignell.
  • I give to my son Henry all the goods that belong to me in or about his house at Deddington.
  • I give the following, to be delivered soon after my wife's death:
    • To my son John a cupboard that stands in the Hall, a furnace in the kitchen, the joined bedstead and the best chest in the new chamber.
    • To my daughter Elinor a joined bedstead with its furniture.
    • To my daughter Mary a silver bowl.
    • To my daughter Rebeckah my biggest kettle, the biggest ewer and basin and the biggest flagon.
  • If any of my children die before inheriting, their portions go equally between the survivors.
  • I give all the rest of my goods, cattle and chattels to my loving wife Mary Bignell whom I make sole Executrix, she paying my debts, legacies and funeral expenses.
  • I appoint my brothers Tymothy and John Bignell as overseers, to whom I give 5s each to buy gloves.

In the name of God Amen This ffifteenth day of November, In the One & twentieth yeare of his Ma'ties reigne
Annoq' D'ni: 1669. I William Bignell Sen. of Hempton in ye p'ish of Dadington In the County of Oxon yeoman being weake in body but of good
& p'fect memory, blessed be Almighty God for it, And calling to minde the uncertaine estate of this transitory life & that all
flesh must yield unto death when it shall please God to call, doe make, constitute, ordaine & declare this my last Will & Testam't
in manner & forme following, revoking & annulling by these p'sents, all & every Testam't & Testam'ts Will & Wills heretofore by
me made & declared either by word or by writing, & this is to be taken only for my last Will & Testam't & none other, And
first being penitent & sorry from the bottome of my heart for all my sins past, most humbly desiring forgiveness for the same
I give & committ my Soul unto Almighty God, my Saviour & Redeemer, in whom & by the meritts of Jesus Christ I trust
& believe assuredly to be saved & to have full remission & forgivness of all my sins, & that my Soul with my body at the
generall day of resurrection shall arise againe with ioy, & through the meritts of Christs death & passion, possess & inheritt
the kingdome of heaven, prepared for his elect & chosen, And my body to be buryed at the discreasion of my Executrix
hereafter mentioned, & for that worldly estate which it hath pleased God to lend me I give & dispose the same in
manner following Inpr'is I give & bequeath unto my eldest daughter Joane Hoare, the wife of John Hoare, Twenty
pounds of good & lawfull English money for her to receive within six moneths next after my decease. Item I give
& bequeath unto my daughter Elinor ffoure score pounds of like lawfull English money for her to receive within
six moneths next after my decease. Item I give & bequeath unto my daughter Mary ffifty pounds of Like lawfull
English money for her likwise to receive w'thin six moneths next after my decease. Item I give & bequeath unto my
daughter Rebeckah ffifty pounds of like lawfull English money for her to receive when shee shall come to the age
of One & twenty yeares. Item I give & bequeath unto my son John one Cubbord y't stands in ye Hall, one ffurnace
in ye kitchen, & one joyn bedsted standing in ye new Chamber & ye best Chest in ye same Chamber for him to receive
p'sently after the decease of my now Wife. Item I give & bequeath unto my Son William Bignell Twenty of my
best Sheep Item I give & bequeath unto my Son Henry all them goods that is mine standing & being in or a=
-bout his house at Dadington. Item I give & bequeath unto my Son Tymothy One hundred pounds of lawfull
English money to be paid unto him when he shall come to ye age of One & twenty yeares, my Will & desire is that
he shall begin to receive ye full interest for it within half a yeare next after my decease, to be paid him duely every yeare by my
said wife untill he shall come to ye said age of One & twenty yeares. Item I give & bequeath more to my daughter Elinor
One joyn bedsted w'th the furniture thereunto belonging. Item I give & bequeath more unto my daughter Mary one silver
Bole. Item I give & bequeath more to my daughter Rebeckah my biggest Kettle, & ye biggest Bason, & Ure, & biggest
fflagon, for them to receive p'sently after my Wives decease, And further my Will & desire is that if any of my said
Children shall depart this life before they shall come to receive their said portions, that then their said portion or portions
to remaine wholly to ye longest livers of them, equally to be divided amongst them. All the rest of my goods, Cattle
& Chattels, not formerly disposed of, I give & bequeath unto my loving Wife Mary Bignell whom I make sole
Executrix of this my last Will shee paying my debts & Legacies & discharging my funerall expences, I appoint
my two brothers Tymothy Bignell & John Bignell Overseers of this my last Will, to whom I give five shillings
apiece to buy them some gloves, In Wittness wherof I ye said William Bignell have hereunto sett my
hand & seale the day & yeare first above written
