- My body is to be buried at St Nicholas, Abingdon, near my parents, grandparents and sister.
- 12d to the mother church of Sarum
- 40s to St Nicholas church, to be used as the vicar and church-wardens think fit.
- 40s each, and mourning gowns, to the parson of St Nicholas and the vicar of St Helens for tithes and offerings unpaid.
- 40s to he who preaches at my funeral.
- 2s each to the parish clerks of St Helens and 4s to that of St Nicholas, and to each a black frize gown.
- A gown and 5s per annum for life to my and my father’s old workman William Slatter, paid out of my property in Longworth rented by Francis Tuckwell.
I have given him no more because God has placed him in the Hospital of Christ in Abingdon to be maintained for life.
- £4 pa for life to my cousin Ellen Wise, also paid out of the Longworth property.
- £4 pa for life to my cousin Robert Blacknall Sr of Reading, clothier, paid out of my rents in Shepridge.
- £40 to the poor of Abingdon, to be distributed on the day of my funeral.
- Detailed philanthropic legacies ... the prisoners of Oxford Castle and Reading gaol and eight other gaols in or near London (20s per gaol); the poor of Hanney and especially Lyford.
- 40s to the Master of the Temple in London for duties omitted.
- £5 6s 8d pa to friends Walter Dayrell, John Ashcombe and Charles Wiseman out of the rents coming out of the Manors of NTH Sulgrave and Hardington In Trust to maintain the cure [choir?] in the church of St Nicholas.
If those rents are not available (due to entailment) I give my 8 acres of meadow in Northnod(?) to my trustees for that purpose.
- After the death of my wife Jane I give the following to my Trustees:
- My close in Bore? St, Abingdon.
- My two messuages in Abingdon, in the tenure of John Tanner and Richard Mace deceased.
- All my Lammas grounds in Abingdon, in the tenure of John Sanders.
- My meadow in Abingdon mead in the tenure of Thomas Steede
- My 11 acres of land in Abingdon field.
- The tithe of Connenwfield? in Radley.
to pay for the provision of 24 loaves of bread to be given every Sunday morning after the service in St Nicholas church to 12 poor persons of that parish [rules for selection] then [lengthy rules for disposal of the surplus rents].
- During my wife's life I give £8 pa to my Trustees out of my Manor of Preston Crowmarsh towards the above purposes.
After her death I give them 45s pa out of my Manors of Preston Crowmarsh and [OXF] Fyfield, Oxon [more church charity].
- I give my Manor of Wasing and my farm and lands called Braybies Farm [BRK] and all my lands etc in BRK Wasing, Aldermaston, Woolhampton, Brimpton and Midgham, to my daughters Mary and Jane Blacknall [unmarried minors] for a 500-year term after my decease [complicated distribution of £4 pa of rents to the poor in Wasing, Benson and Preston Crowmarsh].
- [Rules in case he has a male heir after all (he didn't) -- £1000 each to daughters at 21 or earlier marriage -- and rules if both daughters die without issue
- The tithing of Corneavell field in Radley and the fishing of Thrupp Water to my wife for life, to increase her jointure.
- £4 each to my servants who are with me at my decease.
- £10 and a mourning gown to my cousin Anne Hambyn, £10 and a black cloak cloth to her eldest son Richard Lane, £20 each to her other two sons George and William Lane and £20 to their uncle (my cousin) William Lane in Ireland.
- I give to my Trustees my long leases of about 1000 years of lands in BRK Marcham and GLS Lechlade for the above purposes at St Nicholas and Benson, and also that four times a year, on my birthday, the mid-Lent Sunday, Michaelmas and my death-day forever (or as long as the leases last) [various celebrations are to happen at St Nicholas], including 2s each to six poor inhabitants, prayers “for the good and prosperitie of our soveraigne Lord King Charles and of the offspring and progenie of his body and of the offspring and progenie of me John Blacknall and of William Blacknall esq deceased my father and of William Blacknall gent my grandfather and for the good of all faithful people” and payments to the curate and preacher.

- I give £4 pa to my Trustees out of the rents of property formerly belonging to the Abbey of Abingdon called Henwood and other lands in Abingdon and Cumnor, to provide for the schoolmaster of the Free School of Abingdon
