The will and first codicil were written in Goring, but the second codicil in Whitchurch, presumably by a different scribe. He was himself unable to write, and may not have noticed the difference. Henry Bremer other wise Brimmer This is the last Will and Testament of me Henry Bremer of Goreing in the County of Oxford Taylor being of sound and perfect Mind and Memory (Praised be God) first I give devise and bequeath unto my Nephew Henry Bremer all those my three Messuages or Tenements situate and being in Hambledon in the County of Bucks with their and every of their Appurtenances and all other my Messuages Lands and Tenements in Hambledon aforesaid for and during the Term of his natural Life without Impeachm't of or for any Manner of Waste and from and after the Determination of that Estate I give and devise the said three Messuages or Tenements with their Appurtenances and other my Messuages Lands and Tenements in Hambledon aforesaid unto Stephen Berry of Whitchurch in the said County of Oxford Labourer and Richard Huntingdon of Woodcutt in the said County of Oxford Labourer and their Heirs for and during the Natural Life of my Nephew the said Henry Bremer to the Intent and Purpose to preserve and support the contingent Remainders in this my Will herein after limitted so that the same may not be barred defeated or destroyed and for that Purpose that they the said Stephen Berry and Richard Huntingdon and the Survivor of them and the Heirs of such Survivor shall and may make such entries and such other acts as shall be proper for that End and Purpose but in Trust nevertheless to permit and suffer my Nephew the said Henry Bremer to receive and take the Rents Issues and Profits thereof to and for his own use and Benefit during his natural Life And from and after the Decease of my Nephew the said Henry Bremer I give and devise the said three Messuages or Tenements with their Appurtenances and all other my Messuages Lands and Tenements in Hambledon aforesaid unto the first Son of the Body of my Nephew the said Henry Bremer lawfully issuing and to the Heirs of the Body of such first Son lawfully issuing and for default of such Issue then to the second third fourth fifth sixth and every other Son and Sons of the Body of my said Nephew the said Henry Bremer lawfully issuing severally successively and in Remainder one after another as they shall be in Seniority of Age and priority of Birth and to the several and respective Heirs of the Body and Bodies of every such second third fourth fifth sixth and of every other Son and Sons of the Body of my Nephew the said Henry Bremer lawfully issuing the eldest of such Son and Sons and the Heirs of his Body being always to be preferred and take before the Younger of such Son and Sons and the Heirs of his or their body or bodies issuing And for Default of such Issue I give and devise the said three Messuages or Tenements with their Appurtenances and all other my Messuages Lands and Tenements in Hambledon aforesaid To all and every the Daughter and Daughters of my Nephew the said Henry Bremer lawfully issuing (not as Joint Tenants but) as Tenants in Common and to the Heirs of their several and respective Bodies lawfully issuing And for Default of such Issue I give and devise the same to my Nephew the said Stephen Berry and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever I give and devise unto the said Richard Huntingdon All that Messuage or Tenement with the Appurtenances situate and being in Henley upon Thames in the said County of Oxford now in the Occupation of Mr Patey a Sadler To hold unto my Nephew the said Richard Huntingdon from and immediately after my Decease for and during the Term of his natural Life without impeachment of or for any manner of waste and from and immediately after the decease of the said Richard Huntingdon I give and devise the said Messuage or Tenement situate and being in Henley upon Thames aforesaid with their Appurtenances unto Richard Huntingdon the Eldest Son of my Nephew the said Richard Huntingdon and to his Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I give unto my said Nephew the said Henry Bremer the sum of one Hundred and forty one Pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain Also I give unto my sister Letitia Berry the Sum of forty one Pounds of like Money Also I give unto my said Nephew Stephen Berry the Sum of seventy one Pounds of like Money Also I give unto Stephen Berry Son of my said Nephew Stephen Berry the Sum of seventy one Pounds of like Money Also I give unto my Neice Mary Painter the Sum of seventy one Pounds of like Money Also I give unto my Neice Mary Lipscombe the Sum of forty one Pounds of like Money Also I give unto my Nephew Henry Lipscomb Son of my said Neice Mary Lipscomb the Sum of seventy one Pounds of like Money Also I give unto Mary Lipscomb Daughter of my said Neice Mary Lipscomb the Sum of seventy one Pounds of like Money Also I give unto Elizabeth Lipscomb another Daughter of my said Neice Mary Lipscomb the Sum of seventy one Pounds of like Money Also I give unto my Neice Ann Kempster the Wife of Robert Kempster the Sum of fifty one Pounds of like Money All which said several Legacies I do hereby order and direct shall be paid on the twenty fifth Day of March in the year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and fifty six out of my personal Estate by my Executor herein after named and I do hereby charge my said personal Estate with the payment of all and every the said Legacies and in the mean- time and until the said several Legacies shall become due I do hereby order that the said several Legatees shall be paid Interest for their several Legacies after the rate of four Pounds for the Hundred by the Year by my said Executor All the Rest and Residue of my real and personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever not herein before by me disposed off I give devise and bequeath unto my Nephew the said Richard Huntingdon and to his Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns for ever chargeable with the said Legacies in Manner aforesaid And I do make nominate and appoint the said Richard Huntingdon full and sole Executor of this my Will and hereby revoking all former Wills by me made I do declare this to be my last Will only In Witness whereof I the said Henry Bremer the Testator have to this my Will contained in three Sheets of Paper set my Hand and Seal to each of the said Sheets the thirteenth Day of May in the twenty fourth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the Grace of God of Great Britain ffrance and Ireland King Defender of the ffaith &c on or about the thirteenth Day of May in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred and fifty one and have thereby given unto my Sister Letitia Berry the Sum of forty one Pounds and unto my Neice Mary Painter the Sum of seventy and one Pounds Now I do by this Writing (which I declare to be a Codicil to my said Will and direct to be taken as Part thereof) Will and direct that the said several Sums of forty and one Pounds and seventy and one Pounds or either of them shall not be paid or payable to them the said Letitia Perry [sic] and Mary Painter or either of them But I do hereby give and bequeath both the said Sums of forty and one Pounds and seventy and one Pounds making together one Hundred and twelve Pounds unto Richard Huntingdon the younger eldest Son of my Nephew Richard Huntingdon to be paid unto him at such time as the same would have been paid unto the said Letitia Berry and Mary Painter in Case these Presents had not been made In Witness whereof I the said Henry Brimmer of Whitchurch in the County of Oxford Yeoman Whereas I am possessed of several Household Goods and of Wearing Apparel I do hereby give and bequeath all the ffurniture Household Goods and Wearing Apparel which is now or shall be in the House where I now dwell at the time of my Decease unto Stephen Berry the Younger Son of Stephen Berry of Whitchurch aforesaid And I do order my Executor in my said Will named to deliver the said Goods and Apparel unto the said Stephen Berry the Younger within four Days after my Decease In Witness whereof I have to this Writing which I declare to be a Codicil to my last Will and Testament and which is to be accepted and taken as Part thereof set my Hand and Seal this twenty fourth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven Hundred
