Woodstock Park was part of the area which was demolished to make way for Blenheim Palace
Dorothy Brice (Witney) m. William SHEENE (Woodstock) 1 Dec 1687.
Ann Brice m. Richard Lardner (both of New Thrift Lodge) 17 Apr 1711, hence her inclusion in the 1712 codicil.

  • I give £5 each to my brothers William and Stephen.
  • I give all my lands, tenements, closes and estate in Ramsden or elsewhere in Shipton-u-W parish to my nephew Stephen Brice, eldest son of my brother William, and his heirs forever.
    I also give my silver tankard to Stephen's wife,.
  • The following sums are to be paid at the end of a year after my decease:
    • £20 to my nephew Stephen's son Acteon, and £10 each to his other sons Stephen and William.
    • £50 to my nephew William Brice and £10 each to his two sons Charles and William.
    • I give £20 each to my brother William's daughters Martha Lardner and Jane, and £80 to his daughter Ann.
    • £5 each to my sister Dorothy's children Thomas, Elizabeth and Ann, and to my sister Ann's daughters Martha and Elizabeth.
    • 2 gns to my cousin John Brice's son Acteon, my godson.
    • £5 to my servant Jane Johnson.
    If any of the above legatees die before inheriting (except my nephew William and his sons and my niece Martha Lardner) I give their legacies to my nephew Stephen Brice.
  • I give all the rest of my goods, chattels and estate to my nephew Stephen Brice whom I make sole Executor ... I revoke all former wills.

  • I give the following:
    • To my nephew William Brice (son of my brother William), a further £50, making £100 in all.
    • To my niece Ann Lardner my blue bed with its curtains, blankets etc, and all the furniture of the room where it stands.
    • To my servant Jane Johnson my white fored? yearling heifer and my old watch.

In the Name of God Amen I Acteon Brice of Woodstocke Parke in the County of Oxon Gent being
aged and infirme in body but of sound memory praysed be God doe make this my last Will and Testament
in manner following recommending my Soul to Almighty God and my body to the Earth to be decently
and Christianly buried by my Exececut'r hereafter named, And for my worldly estate I Give devise and
Bequeath the same in manner and forme following (that is to say) ffirst I Give unto my brother
William the sum of ffive pounds Item I Give unto my brother Stephen ffive pounds Item I
Give and bequeath unto my Newhew [sic] Stephen Brice (Eldest sonn of my brother William) All my
Lands Tenements Closes and Estate whatsoever in the Liberties of Ramsden or elswhere in the
parish of Shipton under Whichwood in the County of Oxon aforesaid To hold the same unto
my said Nephew Stephen and his heires for ever. Item I give unto my said Nephew Stephens
wife my Silver Tankard Item I Give unto my said Nephew Stephen's sonn Acteon Twenty pounds
and to his Two other Sonns Stephen and William Tenn pounds A peice Item I give unto my Nephew
William Brice ffifty pounds and to his Two Sonns Charles and William Tenn pounds a peice Item
I give to my brother Williams Daughter Martha Lardner Twenty pounds Item I give to his Daughter
Jane Twenty pounds and to his Daughter Ann ffourscore pounds, Item I give to my Sister
Dorothy's Three Children Thomas Elizabeth and Ann ffive pounds apeice Item I give to my Sister
Anns Two daughters Martha and Elizabeth ffive pounds a peice Item I give unto my Cozen
John Brice's Sonn Acteon (who is my Godson) Two Guineas Item I Give unto my Servant
Jane Johnson ffive pounds; All w'ch said Legacies and Sum's of money my will is shall
be paid att the end of one yeare next after my decease But in case any or either of the said
Legatees shall happen to Dye within the said yeare before his or her or their Legacies shall
become due (except my nephew William and his Sonns and my Neice Martha Lardner) Then I Give all and
every of the said Legacies Sum' and Sum's of money soe bequeathed as aforesaid of the person or
persons soe dying before his or their said Legacies shall become payable, unto my said Nephew
Stephen Brice, Item I Give and bequeath all the rest of my Goods Chattles and estate unto
my said Nephew Stephen Brice who I doe make Sole Execut'r of this my last Will and Testament
And I Doe hereby revoke and make void all and every former Will or Wills by me made or
declared, In wittnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale the Sixth Day of
October in the Eigth yeare of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lady Ann by the Grace of God Queene
of Great Brittaine &c Annoq' D'ni 1709 ()

October 21st 1712 I Acteon Brice doe add this as A Codicil to my last Will and Testament to be
taken as part thereof viz'ty I Give unto my Nephew William Brice (son to my brother William)
ffifty pounds more then I have given him by my Will to make the Sum' one Hundred pounds And
to my neice Ann Lardner my blew bed with Curtains, blanketts and all things thereto belonging
and all the Furniture of the Roome where the said bed stands And to my servant Jane Johnson my white
