 the first day of May in the fourth year of
 reign of [our Sovrin] Lord George by the Grace of
 God of Great Brittain ffrance & Ireland
 King defender of ye ffaith in Anno Dom 1718
 I Francis Brudnell the Elder of Sprigs Alley
 in the parish of Chinnor in the county of Oxon
 Labourer aged weak & infirm of body but of
 sound & perfect mind memory & understanding thanks
 be given to Almighty God for ye same and
 calling to mind ye mortality of my body & not
 knowing how soon my change may be & being
 willing to settle things in order do therefore make
 & declare this my last Will & Testament in
 maner & form following  And first and prin-
 cipally I bequeath my soul to God my Creator
 & my body I commit  to the earth to be buried
 in decent and Christian buriall at the [discretion]
 of my Extor herein after named  And as touching
 my temporall Estate such as God in mercy
 hath bestowed upon me in this world I
 do hereby order give bequeath & dispose
 thereof in maner & form following Imprimis
 I give devise & bequeath all that my
 Messuage Cottage or Tenemts wherein I now
 dwell situate & being at Spriggs Alley in
 the parish of Chinnor aforesaid in ye sd county
 of Oxon & also all that Close of arrable
 Land to ye sd Messuage Cottage or Tenemts
 near or adjoining the & also all houses Barnes
 Stables Orchards Gardens & appurts
 whatsoever to the said Messuage Cottage or
 Tenemts Close of Land & premises belonging
 unto Susannah brudnell my dear & loving
 wife for & during the term of her naturall
 Life without impeachmt of waste  And
 from & after her decease I give devise &
 bequeath all that my Messuage Cottage
 or Tenemt Close of arrable & premises afore-
 mentioned with the appurts & also all other
 my Messuages Lands Tenemts & Hereditamts
 whatsoever situate lying & being within the
 parish of Chinnor aforesaid unto my Grandson
 ffrancis Brudnell (the son of my son ffrancis)
 & to his Heirs and Assigns for ever Provided
 always & upon condicon nevertheless that
 if my Grandson ffrancis Brudnell his
 Heirs Assigns do & shall well & truly pay or cause
 to be paid unto my Grandaughter Susannah Brudnell
 the Daughter of my son ffrancis Brudnell the sum
 of ten pounds of lawfull money of Great Britt
 within one year next after my Wifes decease
 which I give and bequeath by virtue of this my Will
 to be paid out of my Messuage Cottage or Tenemt
 Close Lands & premises aforementioned  And if in
 case failure happen to be made in paymt of ye
 sd Sum of ten pounds or any part thereof contra-
 ry to the intent and true meaning of this my Will
 being lawfully demanded & not paid then my
 mind and Will is & I do give & bequeath my
 Messuage & Cottage or Tenemts Close of Land &
 premises aforementioned unto my said Grandaught
 Susannah Brudnell & to her Heirs & Assigns
 for ever  Item I give and bequeath to my son
 ffrancis Brudnell ye sum of ten shillings to
 be paid to him within six months next after my
 wifes decease  Item i give & bequeath to my
 son Thomas Brudnell the like sum of ten
 shillings to be paid to him in like maner  Item
 I give and bequeath to my Grandaughter Eliz
 Brudnell (the daughter of my son Francis)
 six napkins & one pewter platter  Item I give
 & bequeath to my Grandson Thomas Brudnell
 (the son of my son ffrancis) one brass pottage
 pot & pewter platter & ye little Trunk
 Item I give and bequeath to my Grandaughter
 Susannah Brudnell (the daughter of my son
 ffrancis) the feather bed whereon she now
 lyeth two bolsters one pillow & all other furniture
 to it except the Bedstead only & the great Brass
 pottage pott the Brass mortar and pestle and table
 standing in ye Chamber and table Cloth to it &
 six napkins  Item I give and bequeath to my
 Grandson Thomas Brudnell (the son of my
 son Thomas Brudnell) one Coverlid  Item
 I give & bequeath to my Grandaughter Susannah
 Brudnell (the daughter of my son Thomas) six
 Napkins   Item I give & bequeath to my Grand-
 son James Dossett two pewter platters  Item
 I give & bequeath to my Grandaughter Mary
 Dossett two pewter platters & the middle kettle Item
 I give and bequeath to my Grandaughter Ann
 Brudnell (the Daughter of my son William
 Brudnell deceased) the sum of fifty shillings
 to be paid to her at her age of one and
 twenty years or within one year next after
 (ffran Brudnell the Elder his mke)
 
 after my wifes decease which shall last happen
 one Trunckle bed one flock bed one bolster
 one pillow one Blankett Item I give &
 bequeath to my Grandaughter Mary Brudnell
 the Daughter of my Grandson ffrancis
 Brudnell my little Silver spoon  Item I
 give & bequeath to my Grandson Richard
 Dossett one shilling  Item I give and bequeath
 to my Grandaughter Ann Bruttnell the
 Daughter of my son ffrancis one pewter
 platter  Item all the rest & residue of
 my Goods Chattles & personal Estate insoever
 unbequeathed after my Debts and Legacies
 paid & my ffuneral Expenses discharged
 I give & bequeath to my Grandson ffrancis
 Brudnell (the son of my son ffrancis Brudnell)
 & do hereby make & ordain him sole
 Extor of this my last Will and Testamt
 And lastly I do hereby revoke & make
 void all former & other Will & Testamts
 by me made or declared & do hereby
 declare this to be my last Will and
 Testament in manner & form aforesaid
 In Witness whereof I the said
 ffrancis Brudnell the Elder to this my
 last Will and Testament contained
 in two sheets of paper have set my
 hand at the botton of the first sheet
 and my hand & seal to the last sheet
 the day and year first above written

 & declared by the said ffrancis Brudnell
 the Elder (with those words {the elder}
 interlined in the third line of the first
 sheet) to be his last Will and Testament
 in the presence of us who have attested the same in
 his presence Zachariah Seaman

 Probated 5 June 1721 and Administration granted to ffrancis Brudnell, Grandson and Executor.
 
 An Inventory of the goods and chattell of ffrancis
 Brudnell the elder late of Spriggs Alley in the p’ish
 of Chinnor in the county of Oxon labourer deceased
 taken on paper first stamped with the three six
 penny stamps And appraised by Thomas Clark &
