  • My debts and funeral expenses are to be paid.
  • The following legacies are to be paid within one year after my decease, but without interest in the meantime.
    If any of the legatees die before their legacies become payable, those legacies are not to go to their representatives but are to be void, and the money kept by my Executor for his own benefit .

  • I give all my estates, lands, tenements etc in Shipton under Wychwood and Milton [under Wychwood], and all my other estates, lands, tenements etc, to my nephew Henry Partlett of Stonesfield, maltster, and his heirs etc forever, but charged with the payment of a £4 pa annuity to my sister Alice Partlett (his mother) for life, free from all deductions, to be paid by two equal half-yearly payments beginning six months after my decease.
  • I give all the residue of my estate, goods, chattels, money and effects to my nephew Henry Partlett whom I appoint sole Executor ... I revoke all former wills.

In the Name of God Amen I George Burson of Coggs in the County of Oxford
Yeoman being in a perfect state of Health and of a sound and disposing mind memory
and Understanding but considering the uncertainty of my so continuing and of this Mortal
Life Do make ordain publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner
and form following That is to say First I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty
God my Creator hoping for his Mercy through Christ And my Body I will shall be
decently buried at the Discretion of my Executor herein after named And as for such
Wordly Estate wherewith it has pleased Almighty God to Bless me I dispose thereof as
followeth That is to say First I will that all my just debts and Funeral Expenses
shall be paid and discharged Also I give and bequeath unto my sister Sarah Flexney
the sum of Ten pounds And to my late sister Susannah Bunting’s Five Children the sum
of Five pounds each and to my Niece Jane Harwood the sum of Five pounds and to my
Nephew Henry Shayler the sum of Five pounds And to Edward Rawlins of Westcott
in the County of the sum of Ten pounds And to my Nephew John Burson the sum of
Ten + pounds and to my Nephew George Burson the sum of Twenty pounds And to
Edward Warner of Burford the sum of Five pounds and to John Hutt of Northleigh
the sum of Ten pounds And to my Niece Mary Partlett the sum of Ten pounds And to
my Niece Alice Partlett the sum of Ten pounds and to my Niece Elizabeth Partlett the
sum of Ten pounds And to my Nephew Richard Partlett the sum of Ten pounds And to
Jane Harris a Niece of my late Wifes the sum of Ten pounds And to Ann Gowing
another Niece of my late Wifes the sum of Ten pounds And to Mary Harris another
Niece of my late Wifes the sum of Ten pounds And to William Harris a Nephew of my
late Wife’s the sum of One Guinea And to James Harris another Nephew of my late
Wife’s the sum of One Guinea And to Richard Day of Bampton in the County of Oxford
Butcher the sum of Five pounds And to Joseph Burson of Holwell the sum of Five pounds
And to Edward Flexney of Witney Blankett Weaver the sum of Five pounds and to John
Wiggins the younger of Witney Blankett Weaver the sum of Five pounds And to Thomas
Evil of Horton the sum of Five pounds And to Isaac Warner of Burford the sum of
Five pounds And to my Nephew William Hanks’s Five Children now living
the sum of Five pounds each All which said several and respective Legacies or sums
of Money I do hereby direct and appoint my Executor herein after named to pay to the
several and respective persons before mentioned (to whom I have hereby given and bequeathed
the same) within one year next after my Decease without Interest for the same in the meantime
But if any or either of the person or persons above named to whom I have given
and Bequeathed any legacy or sum of money as aforesaid

Shall happen to to dye before his her or their Legacy or Legacies become Due and payable
as aforesaid Then my Will and Desire is that the respective Legacy or Legacies herein before
Given and Bequeathed or Directed to be paid shall cease and be void And shall not be be paid to
any or either of their Representatives but that the same shall be retained and kept by my
Executor herein after named for his own use and Benefit Also I give and bequeath unto the
poor of the parish of Coggs aforesaid the sum of Fifty shillings and to the poor of Milton in the
said County of Oxford the sum of Fifty shillings To be distributed amongst such of them as are
real objects of Charity by the Churchwardens and Overseers of the respective parishes imediately
after my decease Also I Give devise and bequeath unto my Nephew Henry Partlett of
Stonesfield in the County of Oxford aforesaid Malster All and singular my Estate and Estates
Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever situate and being in Shipton under Whichwood
and in Milton in the parish of Shipton under Whichwood in the County of Oxford aforesaid And all
my Estate and Interest therein And all other my Estate or Estates Lands Tenements and
Hereditaments whatsoever and wheresoever To Hold the same unto the said Henry Partlett his
Heirs and Assigns forever Charged nevertheless and I do Hereby charge the same and every
part thereoff with payment of one Annuity or clear yearly rent Charge of Four pounds per Annum
unto my sister Alice Partlett (Mother of the said Henry Partlett) for and during the term of her
natural Life free from all Taxes and deductions whatsoever to be paid to her by my Executor herein after
named by two equal half yearly payments the first payment thereof to begin and to be made at the end
of six months next after my decease All the rest and residue of my Estate Goods Chattells money and Effects
whatsoever and wheresoever I hereby give devise and bequeath the same and every part thereof unto my
said nephew Henry Partlett whom I do hereby constitute and appoint full and sole Executor of this my
last Will and Testament And I do hereby revoke and make void all former and other Wills by me at
any time heretofore made and do declare this and no other to be my present last Will and Testament
In Witness whereof I the said George Burson have to this my last Will and Testament Contain’d
in Two Sheets of paper to each sheet sett my hand and seal this Twenty second Day of
February in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Sixty
