  • I revoke all other wills.
  • I give my natural son John Clarke 5s to be paid within a month after my decease.
  • I give my grandchild Jane Clarke 2s 6d.
  • give my grandchild Katherin Clarke, daughter of Richard Clarke, 2s 6d.
  • I give all my goods, lands, chattels and cattle to my natural son Richard Clarke to make use of [after my death], on condition that he maintains and keeps me with meat, drink and suitable lodging, and discharges all the debts now owing by me.
  • I make my son Richard my Executor ... he is not to make any waste nor cut down any fruit trees, and keep all housing and mounds? in repair.
  • I entreat my loving friends John Young, William Tomas and John Baston to be overseers, for which I give them 6d apiece.

In the name of God Amen I John Clarke of Aston in the
p'ish of Bampton in the County of Oxon yeo' beinge weake
of Body but of p'fect memory thanks be given to God
Calling to mind the uncerteynty of this mortall Life
That all fflesh must yeald when plese God to Call Doe make
And ordayne this my last will & Testament in manner & form
ffollowinge revokinge & Anulinge all other wills made by word
or writtinge & ffirst being penetent & hartily sory ffor all my
sinns most humbly desiringe p'don & forgivenes ffor them all
I Give & Commit my soul into the hands of allmighty god
my saviour & redeemer desiring ffull remission of them all
And my body to the earth wherof it was made & ffor my tempoall
Estat I Give & dispose as ffolloweth
