  • I appoint my son Phillip Cockbill sole Executor to all my lands, houses, goods and chattels etc.
  • I give my son Moses Cockbill all the timber goods etc he has had of me from 1788 to 1809.
  • My daughter Dinah Owen shall have £20 one year after my decease.
  • My daughter Rachel Shaylor and her son John Cockbill shall have £20 equally divided at the above time
  • If both or either of my daughters dies before the money becomes payable, their portion is to go to their sons George Owen and John Cockbill.
  • My land, houses and premises should never be sold but to go to my Executor and his heir for ever

In the name of God Amen. I Phillip Cockbill of Clanfield in the county of Oxford Wheelwright being perfect in mind and memory thanks be to God for it do make this my will and testament in the following manner. First I commend my soul to God hoping to be saved through the merits of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and my body to be decently buried at discression of my executor. Secondly I appoint my Son Phillip Cockbill the whole and sole Executor to all my lands houses goods and chattels whatsoever. Imprimis I give and bequeath to my son Moses Cockbill all the timber goods and etc he have had of me from the year 1788 to the year 1809 likewise my will is that my daughter Dinah Owen shall have twenty pounds paid her at one year after my decease likewise my daughter Rachel Shaylor and her son John Cockbill shall have twenty pounds equally divided to be paid by my executor at the above time and provided my above daughters should both or either of them die before the money come payable their portion to be their sons George Owen and John Cockbill to be paid at the above time by my executor. Likewise my will is that my land houses and premisess should never be sold but to go to my Executor heir and his heir for ever. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 22nd day of May one thousand eight hundred and eleven. Phillip Cockbill.

This will was proved at Oxford on 22nd day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen before the Reverend William Browne Clerk Master of Arts Surrogate of the reverend George Turner clerk Master of Arts Official Principal of the Reverend the Archdeacon of Oxford lawfully constituted by oath of Phillip Cockbill the son and sole executor therein named to whom administration was granted being first sworn duly to administer.
