  • I give my loving wife Martha Dobinson for life my two tenements and malthouse now in the occupation of John Francklyn, maltster, and myself, with the orchard, backside etc.
    After my wife's decease I give [all of it] to my son William Dobinson and his heirs forever.
  • I give my orchard and garden near Ingham Lane, adjoining the backside and outhouses of Mr Horne on the SW side, an orchard of the Right Hon Lord Chancellor Parker? at the NW end, the estate of Edward King on the NE side, and a tenement and orchard of Thomas King on the SE end: to my wife and my friends Edward Rickford of Watlington, carpenter, and John Dobinson, butcher, Upon Trust to sell [it] [protection for trustees] and apply the proceeds towards paying my debts (mortgages and otherwise).
  • I give the residue of my stock, goods and chattels to my wife Martha Dobinson whom I make sole Executrix.

In the name of God Amen I John Dobinson
of Ingham Lane in Watlington in the County of
Oxon Shepherd being weak in Body but

of sound mind & memory (thanks be to God) do this sixth day
of August in the year of o'r Lord one thousand seven hundred
& twenty make & ordain this my last Will & Testam't in forme
& manner following First & principally I Commend my Soul
to Almighty God hoping to be saved through the alone
meritts of my Saviour Jesus Christ & my Body I give to be
buried according to the Discretion of my Executrix hereinafter
mentioned And as to my Estate & worldly Goods I give & bequeath in
manner following. Imp'is I give & bequeath unto my
Loving Wife Martha Dobinson during her naturall Life all those
my two tenements & Malthouse now in the tenure &
Occupation of John Francklyn Malster & me the s'd John
Dobinson together with ye Orchard & backside & all the
appurten'ces thereunto belonging & from & after the
decease of my s'd wife I give ye Premises afores'd unto my
Son William Dobinson & to his heirs for ever. Item I give
bequeath & devise unto my s'd wife Martha Dobinson & to my
friends Edward Rickford of Watlington afores'd Carpenter
& John Dobinson Butcher all that my Orchard & Garden
near Ingham lane afores'd adjoyning on the south west
side to the backside & out houses of Mr Horne On the
north west End to an Orchard belonging to the R't Hon'ble
L'd Chancell'r Parker? On the north east side to the Estate
of Edward King & on the south east end to a xxx Tenement
& Orchard of Thomas King upon this especiall trust
& with this intent & design that they ye s'd Martha Dobinson
Edw'd Rickford & John Dobinson shall sell aliene? & convey
away the absolute inheritance & fee simple of ye s'd Orchard
& garden to the best purchaser & w'tsoever ye s'd Martha Do=
binson Edw'd Rickman & John Dobinson shall do & transact
in pursuance of this trust intent & design I do hereby
ratifye & confirm fully freely & absolutely ag't all persons
whatsoever & my Will is farther that the money arising
from & by the sale of my s'd Orchard & Garden shall
be faithfully applied & imployed for & towards

the paying & discharging of such debts as I [have?]
at the time of my Decease as well upon Mortgage
as otherwise Item as to ye rest residue & Remainder
of my Stock goods & Chattles of w't kind or sort soever
I give unto my s'd wife Martha Dobinson whom
I make & ordain sole Ex'trix of this my last
Will & Testam't In Testimony of all which
particulars aboves'd I the s'd John Dobinson have
hereunto sett my hand & seal the Day & year

published & declared as & for the last Will &
