  • My debts and funeral expenses are to be paid and my Executors are to purchase gravestones to be set at my grave in memory of me.
  • I give my freehold estate in Deddington to Joseph Rose, Thomas Rose, Frances Rose, Lucy Rose and Bridgett Rose and their heirs forever, they being sons and daughters of my daughter Bridgett Rose lately deceased.
  • I give them £4 equally divided.
  • I give my granddaughters Frances, Lucy and Bridgett Rose my two beds with all the furniture belonging.
  • I give my daughter Lucy Wise, wife of Robert Wise of Fringford, baker, the remainder of my lease on the house etc in Fringford which I lately bought of Henry Oddington, to her and her Executors etc.
  • I give my eight grandchildren, sons and daughters of my son William East of Somerton, £30 equally divided between them.
  • I give my son-in-law John Rose of Somerton, baker, £5
  • I give the children of my daughter Lucy Wise £30 equally divided.
  • I give Mary Hoar, daughter of my granddaughter Elliza Hoar deceased, £1 1s.
  • I give my Nephew William East, son of my brother John East, £5.
  • The two pewter dishes marked with H & E, one I give to my nephew William East, the other to John East, sons of my brother John East.
  • I give the poor of Somerton 20s to be distributed at my funeral.
  • I give my granddaughter Lucy Wise my spice mortar.
  • The above legacies are to be paid within one year after my decease.
  • I appoint my son William East of Somerton and my son-in-law Robert Wise of Fringford joint Executors ... I revoke all former wills

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I William East the Elder of Summerton in the County
of Oxford yeoman being in perfect health of body and of sound & perfect memory
praised be God, Doe this Twenty Ninth Day of October in the year of our Lord
One Thousand Seven hundred Thirty and Five make & Ordain this my Last Will &
Testament in manor following.
Impr'im -I comend my Soul into ye hands of God Trusting & hoping in his
Infinitt mercy & goodness and the meritts of my Blessed Saviour &
redeemer Jesus Christ that he will pardon & forgive me all my Sins &
grant me Eternall happyness in the life to come, And my body I comitt
to ye Earth to be buried in a decent manor att the disscretion of my
Executors herin after named, And as for such wordly Estate & goods as
God has pleased to Bless me with I give & disepose in manor
following.
Item -I Will that my debts & funerall expences shall be paid & disscharged
and that my Executors do purchas Grave Stones to be sett att my Grave
in memory of me.
Item -I give and bequeath all my Freehold Estate lying and being in the
Parish of Deddington in ye county of Oxford to Joseph Rose, Thomas
Rose, Frances Rose, Lucy Rose, and Bridgett Rose to them & their
heires for ever, they being sons & daughters of my daughter Bridgett
Rose lately deceased.
Item -I give to my said grand childreen Joseph, Thomas, Frances, Lucy, &
Bridgett Rose the sum of four pounds of good & Lawfull money of great
Brittain to be equally devided between them, I further give to my
Grand daughters Frances Rose, Lucy Rose, & Bridgett Rose my Two beds
with all ye furniture therunto belonging or now used.
Item -I give & bequeath to my daughter Lucy Wise, wife of Robert Wise of
Frinkford in ye county of Oxford Baker all my Lease of years yett to
come in my house or homstall w'th all the appurtenances therto
belonging w'ch house and homestall I lately bought of Henry Oddington,
situate & being in Frinkford aforesaid, to her & her Executors
administrators & Assignes.
Item -I give & bequeath to my Eight Grand childreen sons & daughters of my
son William East of Sumerton the Sum of Thirty pounds of good &
Lawfull money of great Brittain to be Equally devided between them
share & share a like.
Item-I give & bequeath to my Son in Law John Rose of Sumerton Baker the
Sum of Five pounds of good & Lawfull money of great Brittain.
Item -I give & bequeath to the childreen of my daughter Lucy Wise the sum
of Thirty pounds of good & Lawfull money of Great Brittain to be
Equally devided between them share & share alike.
Item -I give & bequeath to Mary Hoar daughter of my Grand daughter Elliza
Hoar deceased the Sum of One pound & one shilling.
Item -I give & bequeath to my Nephew William East Son of my Brother John
East, the sum of Five pounds of good and Lawfull money of great
Brittain. Item The Two pewter Dishes marckt with H & E, One of them
I give to my said nephew William East, and the other I give to John
East Sons of my Brother John East.
Item -I give to the poor of Summerton the Sum of Twenty shillings to be
disstributed among att buring or Funerall.
Item -I give to my Grand daughter Lucy Wise, my Spice Mortar.

My will is that the above said Legacies be paid within one year after my
decease, And I Doe hereby appoint ordain & make my Son William East of
Summerton afors'd And my Son in Law Robert Wise of Frinkford aforesaid my
Joynt Executors, And do hereby revoke & make Void all former Wills by me made
that this my Last will may stand in full force. IN WITNESS I have hereunto
sett my hand and Seal the day & year first above written.

Surrogate of the Worsh. Henry Brooke Dr of Laws Official Principal of the
Rev'd the Archdeacon of Oxon lawfully Constituted Wm East and Robt Wise the
Executors Duly sworn to pay the Debts and Legacies to Exhibit an Inventory and
pass an account when by Law required to Whom administration was granted saving
the rights of all Others.
