In the name of god Amen The vth daye of novembre in The yeare of oure lord god A Thousand ffive hundrethe thre score and foure. I Alexannder ffetiplace of Childrie in the Countie of Berke pefect of mynd and memorie, Laudinge and praying Almightie god Calling to my Remembrance the mortalitie of this Transitory Lief, And that there is nothing so uncertain as The Tyme thereof make and Ordeine this my Laste will and Testament in name and fforme ffollowinge ffirste I bequeathe my soule to almightie god my Creature and Redemer and to all the hole Companie of of heaven And, my bodie to be Buried in the Ile of St Katherine of Childie aforseide if I happen there to departe this lief and as for the chardges of my ffuneralles and the Disposition [supra ?] of certen money to the pore I Resarve? yt unto the discretion and Orderinge of my executors Item I give to everie of my servants being a yeoman that hath continued with me by the space of ffoure yeares vis viiid. Item I give and bequeathe to Dorothe Phetiplace my wief all suche plate as is hereafter resited viz the Gilte Gobletes under a Cover and a ringe Twoo Little silver Gobletes under a Cover wt a ringe One gilte Bowle with a rose One bowle of Silver parcell? Gilte with a S..ke? pricked in the botome One standinge Cupp boughte of Edwarde Gline ffyve silver Spoones typped wt Acornes One spone gilt wt a s..ke? One Ale Cupp wt a Cover boughte of mister [?] edmirthe of Redinge? vi Silver spones boughte of the said mister [?] wt Anngelles at the Typpes all which saide plate I give to Dorothe my wief aforeseide To have and to houlde to her proper Use and Comoditie duringe her lief upon this Condicion that yf she Chance to marie Againe she shall ffynde sufficient suertie to be bounde wt her before she marie to Leave and Deliver the said same Plate Unto my Executors to the Use and Behest of Christopher* fetiplace my sonne And yf the saide Christopher shall happen to departe this worlde before he atteyne and be of the age of twentie yeares then I wille yt all the forseid plate shall remaine to my Children which I have had By the said Dorothie my wife Item I will give and Bequeath to my said wief Dorothie all suche kindes of Graine Corne and haie as shall be or remaine at the Tyme of my death at Letcombe Bassett or in the Corne barnes the to have to her proper use and Comoditie also all tithes and ffallowes and Greines upon the Earthe sowen at the Tyme of my deathe Also I Will give and Bequeathe unto my said wief all suche kinde of graine Corne and heie or Cattell as shall be or remaine at the Tyme of my death in my Chanterie barnes sumtyme Sr Edmoñ de Childries which I purchased And Over that I give her all manner of goodes cattelles or thinges whatsoever they Be wtin the s??the? of the saide chanterie house moveable or Unmoveable at the Tyme of my death Remayning in or uppon the saide Chanterie wtoute anie Contradition or Let to be had moved or don by myne executors or anie of them And ffurder I give unto my said wief twentie Keine and one Bull to be drawen oute of my Pasture of wodde? If I set them not drawen or markid once myselfe to her owne Use and Comoditie Item I give unto my said wief iiij ffether beddes whereof one to be my Little Downe Bede and Boulster boughte of my ?tenant Pegge with a paire of ffustian Blanketts to the same and a Coverlight which I boughte of Ms ?Grant Item an Other ffether bed and boulster which she boughte hir selfe wt a paire of fustians and Twoo newe pillows which she boughte and one greate Coverlet Unlined Item One Other ffether bed with the boulster thereunto belonginge which was wonte to lie over my Buttrey at Childrey with the hole ffurniture thereunto belonginge as I was wonte to lie in yt myselfe Item the ffourthe bedd to be the bed which was Wonte to be in my sisters Chamber with a paire of Wollen Blanketts One Paire of pillows and A Coverlet which is wt a white Lion Item I give unto my wief my Greate Cheste with the Broken Haspes and Twoo Lockes Item I give unto hir one yellow grease Cheste boughte at London And over this my will and mynde is she to have all suche Juilles Goodes and stuff wh she broughte wt her too me Besides the bequested by me to her made Item I give to my said wief Twoo paire of my ffynest shetes which she Occupieth when she lieth in Childebed and also one Peece of Diaper which was never Occupied to anie Use Item I will give and Bequeathe to Cissill* Phetiplace my daughter One hundreth poundes to be levied of my Londes in Swinbrook immediatelie after my deathe and to be delivered to the said Cissie when she shall attaine to the Age of xviij yeares by my trustie ffeffors??? Edmond Plowden and [blurred] esquires and appeareth by the said ffeffment annexed to my will beringe date decimo die Junii anno primo regine domine marie dei grã anglie ffrancie et hibernie Regine fidei Defensoris et in terra Ecclesie Anglicane et Hibernie Supremi Capitis And of ffortun the said Ceccill to die before she Attaine to the Age aforsaide Then I will that my daughter marie shall have and Inioye the said hundreth poundes Over and above her Owne Legacies specified in this my last will
And further for the Reste of the moietie to be levied oute of my saide manor of Swinbrooke duringe tene yeares next after my decease I give and Bequeathe of the same unto marie* my daughter One hundreth poundes And if it happen the said marie to die before she attaine the age of xviij yeares aforseid and her sister Sissile then lyvinge I will that my feffes aforseid shall deliver and paie the said hundreth poundes to the said Secill Immediately after the death of the said marie her Sister Item I give and bequeathe unto my sonne Anthonie* ffetiplace All suche Interest Right or Title the which I have in or to the Parsonage of Swinbrooke aforseide by the Vertue of a lease which I boughte And also I give Unto the said Anthonie my sonne all such Graine or Graines and all suche of my Goodes or Chattells or Implementes of Housholde as shall happen to be founde in or Uppon the houses or groundes of the saide psonage And yf it shall happen the aforeseid Cecill and marie my daughters both of them to depte this lief so god forbid before enie of them atteine to the age of xviij yeares as is aforesaid then I will the seide ij hundrethe poundes to the survivo of them to be evenlie and Indifferentlie Devided unto my Twoo Sonnes Christopher and Anthonie yf they be then both lyvinge all eles the hole sume of Twoo hundrethe Poundes to be given to the survivo of them And for Lacke of them or enie of them my twoo sonns then to be lyvinge so god forbid then I will the said Twoo hundreth Poundes to be given unto Alexandre Phetiplace my Godson and One of the Sonnes of William Phetiplace my sonne and Eyre late deceased And ffurther I will and beqqueathe to my daughter Elizabeth Twoo hundreth markes to be paide unto hir by myne executors within the space of one hole yeare’s next after my decease onles I Provide Otherwise for hir in my lief Tyme And yf it ffortune the said Elizabeth my daughter to deprte this lief before the Tyme of the said yeare to be endid at which she Oughte of righte to have the said Twoo hundreth markes Then I will that my executors shall paie and deliver the said Twoo hundreth markes to Anthonie ffettiplace my sonne aforesaid when he shall attaine to the Age of Twentie yeares Also I give and Bequeathe to my said wief all the housholde stuffe yt is in or aboute the house at Childrie or therto belonginge Wheresoevr it be wt all the T ? ? Implementes thereto belonginge Plowes and Plowesheared Earth and Carte Geares Item I give to Alice Aldsworthe ffyve poundes of redie money at the daie of marriage And I the said Alexannder ffettiplace will that within foure daies next after my decease my executors shall make wt my other shepes a perfecte fflocke or Stocke of ffyve hundrethe wether shepe after ffyve score to everie hundrethe on my ffarme of Upletcombe in the saide Countie of Berke Yf there shall not be so manie shepe there depasturinge in one fflocke the daie of my decease of which said sheepe and ferme And of all other the Landes and Tenements with the Appurtenances in Latcome aforesaid which I have for yeares of the Assignmente of John ?ide Gent deceased and also of Twentie Acres of medow Grounde sometyme ? lienge in the oulde feildes in the said Countie of Berke which I houlde by lease for terme of yeares of the Quenes Colledge in Oxforde I will and my verye minde and Entente is that Dorothie my wief and her Executors and Assignes shall have the Use and Occupation and the verelie proffites thereof Cominge pers? and Take from the daie of my decease Untill the Age of One and twentie Yeares of Christopher Phetiplace my sonne yf the same Christopher do so longe leve to the entente of my said wief the Executors and Assignes shall and maie wt parte of the Clere yerelie Issues ??? and proffittes thereof yearelie growinge and Cominge bringe uppe my said sonne in learninge as well at the Grammer after his Aisemente thereof as in the studie of the common Lawes of this Realm and the Reste of the Clere Issues and Proffittes thereof the flocke of the said shepe allwaies mainteined and Other Chardges deducted shall yerelie connecte and putt in the flocke for the Proffitt and onlie Behalfe of the saide Christopher which I will shalbe delivered to him at or Before his said age if he happen to marie Onless anie good farme Offis or Other Lyvinge may be therewt before his said age or marriage Obteyned or gotten by my said wief her Executors and Assignes And the said ffarme Landes Tenements and medowes and the Leasses thereof for the yeares th? to come And to be Undetermined the daie of my decease I will and Give to the saide Christopher Provided allweies that yf my said sonne do die unmarried levinge the said Dorothie before the Age of One and Twentie yeares then I will to the said Dorothie not onlie suche Clere Issues and Proffittes thereof as shall Then Be received to the Use of the said Christopher And remayne Unpaid or Bestowed But also suche farme or other Lyvinge as therewt anie ffortune to be shalbe Obteyned for the said Christopher as is aforesaid And also furder will that then my said wief during her lief shall have and take the proffites of the said ffarme Landes Tenements medowes flocke of shepe and Other the premises to her owne Use Yf the yeares in the said severall dewices? shall so longe Continue And yf my said wief and sonne Christopher do die before the same Age of One and twentie yeares of the said Christopher or yf the said Christopher do die before the same age whereby my said wief shall Then have the proffites and Clere Issues of the said premises to her Use for Terme of her lief as is aforesaid And do die Before the severall? Yeares in the said devises be Expyred Then I will and my mynde is that the said said ffarme Landes Tenementes and medowes shall for The yeares in either of them then to come and not determined to gather With the said Stocke of Shepe Growe Come and to be to my sonne and heire William Phetiplace to whom I Give the farme and also the said Indentures of Leases thereof And yf the said Willm be not then lyvinge Then I will that the Premises demised to my said sonne Willm shall remaine and come to the Use of suche of my children as shall have most neede thereof to whom I give the same And furder I the said Alexannder will devise and give and Grante to my said sonne Christopher Phettiplace All that the Indentures of Lease for terme of yeares which I the said Alexannder do assigne of Nicholas Weston yeoman have of in and to the manner of Letcome Regis in the said Countie of Berke wt the Appurtenance And of other Landes Tenements and hereditamentes With th’appurtenances in Letcome Regis in the said Countie of Berke And Off the Office of the Bailieswicke of the said manner And all my estate Righte title terme of yeares and interest which I the said Alexannder now have by any weie or meanes Whatsoever of in and to the said manner Landes Tenementes Balie? And all and singuler other Thinges proffites Comodities corne priced and specified in the said indenture of lease ffor terme of yeares together wt alle and singuler Writinges made and devised for my Assignment of in and to the same Premisses to have and to houlde the same Premisses to the said Christon And his Assignes to the ende of the terme of yeares in the said Indenture mentioned? Provided alweies that yf my said sonne Christopher do die before he shalbe of the age of One and Twentie yeares or married then I the said Alexander will give and grante the said Indenture of the said mannor of Letcombe Regis And other the premises with all other the Writinges Concerninge the same And also all my estate interest or terme of yeares therein and of in and to the said mannor and Landes tenementes and other the Thinges comprised in the said Lease to my said sonne Anthonie Fetyplace And yf he be not then lyvinge then I will and give the same to Alexannder ffettiplace my Godson second sonne to my son William ffettiplace And for defaulte of him to suche as shall be sonne and heire of his Bodie lawfullie begotten, The reste of my Goodes Unbequeathed my debtes and legacies performed and paid my ffunerall Chardges solempnised and done accordinge to the Order of the Churche I wholie give unto my well beloved sonne Christopher Phetiplace and in William Wolescot of Tydmarshe whom I make my Onlie executor Chardginge Them as they shall Answer afore god to fullfill everie pointe thereof in as nighe as they maye with the pore substance and Goodes as I leave And for the Out?/Oversear? thereof I most heartilie desire my brother in law master michaell hampden And my brother in lawe master Thomas Ashefeilde to take the Paines Provided alweies and my verie Mynde is that my daughter Elizabethe shall not entermingle wt anie of my said leases Witnesses hereof Robert Allen Henrie Davies Clerke Elizabeth ffetiplace Alice Alder with diverse others |
