Transcriber's and Editor's Notes
Transcribed by a member of the Littlemore Local History Society.
This will raises an extraordinary number of questions, with which the editor has got rather too involved.
The fact that "Field" is used as an EVATTS forename as well as being her married surname increases the confusion.
Her Executrix and "daughter-in-law" (ie either her son's wife or her step-daughter) is Mary EVATTS -- so was she previously married to an EVATTS?
The 1710 Elsfield marriage of Stephen FIELD to Ann EVATTS may support that view.
So we still don't know her maiden surname, though the 1673 marriage of Field EVATS (Littlemore) to Anne WILMANT (Headington) is a possibility.
She has SHEEN grandchildren, but no mention of their parents.
She has an unnamed brother. She names four of his children, but without surname. Anyone who wants to chase down baptisms of four common forenames among all the variations of WILMOT, knowing that the surname may well not be WILMANT at all, is welcome to try :-)
There is, however, a 1682 Iffley baptism of Feild EVITTS son of Feild -- named after his father -- who may well be the son who married a Mary.
But there are three marriages listed, all on 12 Mar 1712, for Field EVETTS/EVATS (of Iffley) to a Mary: Two are at OxSt MaryV to Mary BURRELL & Mary CAROLL (both of Cowley), the other at Iffley to Mary TYRREL (of Cowley). At that point ...
The following details are believed to be true but should not be totally relied upon:
