Admon was required five years later because the widow died intestate without completing the execution of the will -- their son was told to do it.
He describes Alexander ALLEY as "brother" -- he may mean "in-law" but there is no easy evidence of that relationship and the term was sometimes used for very close friends.

  • My body is to be buried in the church of St Mary [the Virgin] in Oxford as near to my father and mother as possible.
  • I revoke all former wills.
  • I give all my freehold messuages, lands etc in Temple Cowley or elsewhere in Oxon, bought from Edward Groome, to my dear and loving wife Sarah Fifield and her heirs etc forever.
    I also give her all my title and Interest in my leasehold messuages, lands etc for the rest of the leases.
  • I give £200 to my son Walter Fifield.
  • I give £200 to my daughter Elizabeth Fifield, to be paid within two years after my decease.
  • I give £200 to my daughter Sarah Fifield, to be paid at age 21 or earlier marriage.
  • I give 20s to the poor of the parish of St Mary [the Virgin], to be distributed at the discretion of my Executrix and the Overseers of the Poor of the parish.
  • I give 20s each to my brother Alexander Alley and my good friends Mr John Rayley Sr, Mr Thomas Adams and Mr Thomas Neale, to buy rings.
  • My debts, legacies and funeral expenses being first paid, I give all the rest of my goods, chattels, ready money and all money due to me on book, bonds, bills, mortgages or otherwise to my wife Sarah Fifield, and make her sole Executrix.
  • I appoint Alexander Alley, John Rayley, Thomas Adams and Thomas Neale to be overseers, desiring them to assist my wife.
  • My wife is to provide my daughters Elizabeth and Sarah with meat, drink, apparel, washing, lodging and all other necessaries free of charge until their legacies become due.

The ffifteenth day of ffebruary in the Second yeare of the
Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord and Lady William and
Mary by the Grace of God of England Scottland ffrance and
Ireland King and Queen Defendors of the Faith &c Annoq[u]e
Domini one thousand Six hundred Eighty Nine I Thomas
ffifield of the Citty of Oxford Mercer one of the Alderman
of the said Citty being weake in body but of sound and
perfect memory prayse be given to Allmighty God for the
same doe make this my Last will and testament in manner
and forme following that is to say ffirst and principally I
commend my soul to Allmighty God my Creator assuredly
beleaving that I shall receive full pardon and free remission
of all my sinns and be saved by the precious death and
Merritts of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ
and my body to the Eearth from whence it was taken to be
buried in the parish Church of St Maryes in Oxon as
neare to my ffather and Mother as conveniently can bee
in such decent and Christian manner to my Executrix
herein after named shall bee thought most meete and as
touching such worldly Estate as the Lord in mercy hath Lent
mee my will and meaning is the same shall bee Imployed
and bestowed as hereafter in and by this my will is expressed and
first I doe revoak renounce frustrate and make voyd all
former wills by mee heretofore made and declare and appoynt
this my Last will and testament Item I give and bequeath
unto my deare and Loveing wife Sarah ffifield her heires and
assignes for ever all my Messuages or tenements Lands
hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever being my
ffreehold estate which I purchased of Edward Groome scituate
lyeing and being in the Towne and p[re]cincts of Temple
Cowley or elswhere in the County of Oxon Item I give and
bequeath unto my said Wife Sarah ffifield all my Leasehold
Messuages Lands and tenements with the appurtenances
and all my right title and Interest therein and the Grand
Leases thereof for and dureing all such termes and Estates
which att the time of my decease shall bee to come and

unexpired Item I give and bequeath unto my sonn Walter
ffifield the sum'e of two hundred pounds of Good and Lawfull
money of England Item I give and bequeath unto my
Daughter Elizabeth ffifield the like sume of two hundred
pounds of Lawfull money of England to bee payd unto her
within two yeares next after my decease Item I give and
bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah ffifield the like sume of
two hundred pounds of Lawfull money of England to bee
paid unto her when she shall attaine to the age of one and
twenty yeares or on the day of her marriage whichsoever of
them shall first happen Item I give to the poore of the said
parish of St Maryes in Oxon twenty Shillings to be distributed
amongst them at the discretion of my Executrix and the
overseers of the poore of the said parish Item I give to my
Brother Alexander Alley and to my good ffreinds Mr John
Rayley the Elder Mr Thomas Adams and Mr Thomas
Neale twenty shillings a peice to each and every one of them
to by them Rings Item all the rest of my Goods Chattles ready
monyes and all monyes due to mee upon Book Bonds Bills
Morgages or otherwise howsoever my debts Legacies and
ffunerall expences being first payd and discharged I freely
give and bequeath unto my said wife Sarah ffifield and I doe
hereby make and ordaine my said wife Sarah ffifield Sole
and only Executrix of this my Last will and testament and I
doe hereby appoint and desire the said Alexander Alley
John Rayley Thomas Adams and Thomas Neale to be
Overseers of this my said will desireing them to be assistant
to my said wife and my Express will is that my said wife
shall find provide and allowe my said Daughters Elizabeth
and Sarah ffifield meate drink apparrell washing Lodging
and all other necessryes untill theire said respective Legacies
shall become due without paying anything for the same In
witnes whereof I the said Thomas ffifield to this my said
Last will and testament have hereunto set my hand and seale
