  • My body to be buried in the churchyard of Watlington
  • I give my eldest son Robert Hester 5s.
  • I give my daughter Mary the wife of James Woodner 5s.
  • To my daughter Elizabeth the wife of John Woodner 5s.
  • I give my other two children Sarah Hester and Thomas Hester 12d apiece.
  • I give to Mary my loving wife my Cottage or Tenement which I lately built at my own cost upon a plot of ground whereon a cottage stood (which I purchased of one John Bushnell) in Watlington, adjoining the Messuage or Tenement wherein I now dwell; to hold my lately erected cottage etc until my son Richard Hester reaches age 21.
  • After my son Richard reaches 21 I give [the property] to him and his heirs etc forever.
  • My funeral expenses, debts and legacies being paid, I give all the residue of my goods, chattels, cattel, corn and household stuff to Mary my wife whom I make sole Executrix.
  • I appoint my loving cousin Richard Hester the elder of Watlington, yeoman, and my neighbour Thomas Straunge overseers ... and pray them to assist my Executrix.
  • I revoke all former wills.

In the Name of God Amen The Second Day of May In the
Twelfth year of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lord King William the Third Over England And in the yeare of our
Lord God One Thousand and Seven hundred I Robert Hester the elder of Watlington in the County of Oxon Bricklayer
Being sicke and weake in body yet of sound and perfect memory thanks bee to God Doe make and Ordaine this my last Will
and Testament in manner and forme Following First I give and bequeath my soule to Almighty God my maker Assuredly
hopeing to bee saved through the Meritts & passion of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer And my body to bee buried
in Decent manner in the Church yard of Watlington aforesaid And as for my Worldly Goods and Temporal Estate I give
and Dispose the same as Followeth Imprinis I give and Bequeath unto my Eldest sonn Robert Hester Five shillings of
Lawfull money of England Item I give & bequeath unto my Daughter Mary the wife of James Woodner the sume of Five
shillings of Lawfull money of England And to my Daughter Elizabeth the wife of John Woodner the Like sume of five shilling
Item I give and bequeath unto my other Two children Sarah Hester and Thomas Hester Twelve pence a peice
Item I give and bequeath unto Mary my Loveing Wife All That my Cottage or Tenament which I lately Erected & built
att my owne proper Costs and Charges in and upon a peice or plott of Ground whereon a Cottage or Tenement stood (and which I
Purchased of one John Bushnell) situate and being in Watlington aforesaid and adjoining to the Messuage or Tenement wherein
I now Dwell To Have and to hold my said lately Erected Cottage or Tenement peice or plott of ground and other the premisses
with Thappurtenances Unto Mary my said wife her Executors and Assignes for and During and until such time as my sonn
Richard Hester shall may or might Attain to the Age of One & Twenty yeares And from and after such time as my said
sonn Richard Hester may or might Attain to the said Age of One and Twenty yeares I hereby give and Devise my lately Erected Cottage
or Tenement peice or plott of ground and otherthe premises thereunto belonging with Thappurtenances unto my said sonne
Richard Hester To hold to him my said sonn Richard Hester and to his heires and Assignes for ever Item my Funerall
Expences Debts and Legacies being paid and Discharged I give and bequeath all the Rest and Residue of my Goods Chattles Cattell
Corne and Houshold stuffs unto Mary my said Loving Wife Whome I make and Ordaine sole and Whole Executrix of this my last
Will and Testament And I nominate and Appoint my Loving Cousin Richard Hester thelder of Watlington aforesaid yeoman
my Neighbour Thomas Straunge Overseers of this my Last Will and Testament And doe pray and Desire them to bee
Ayding and Assisting to my said Executrix and to see this my Will performed According to the true intent & meaning hereof
And I doe hereby Revoke all former Wills by me made & Declared either in words or writing And In Testimony
