In the name of God Amen, I John Jenkins of Adderburie in the Countie of Oxforde beinge of whole & perfecte rememberance thankes be to god, doe make & ordaine this presente Testamente concerning herein my last will, in man’er & forme followinge ffirst I com’ende my Soule into the handes of Almightie god, my onely saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christe, trusting to be saved by his merites, deathe and passion and my bodie to be seemely buried in the Churche yarde of Adderburie aforesaide Inprimis I give towardes the mayntenance of the Churche iijs iiijd It’ I give unto my Syster Avis iijs iiijd to be p’d unto her presently after my disceasse It’ I give unto my Sonne Will’m Jenkins xs to be p’d unto him at the ende and tearme of one whole yere nexte & Im'ediately after my disceasse, It’ I give unto my daughter Anna Tolederbery, iijL to be p’d unto her at twoe severall tymes, that is to saye, w’th one halfe yere after my disceasse xxxs and at the end of one whole yere next & Imediately after my discesse the other xxxs It’ I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Upton one Cowes com’on w’ch was belonging to one Byltons house, w’ch I tooke a lease of for xxj yeres & she to have & enioy it duringe the tearme of the saide lease, if it please god she soe longe doe live, It’ I give unto the pooreste people of the towen of Adderburie suche as my Executor and overseers shall thinke according to theire discretions to have moste neede, xs and that equally to be devided iiijd a house, It’ I give unto my goddaughters namely Alice Childe, Alice Nicholes, Elizabeth Durden to everie of them iiijd a peece, all the reste of my goodes & chattels of what nature and propertie soever, my debts and legacies beinge p’d and performed unbequeathed, I have given unto Thomas Upto’ my sonne in lawe by a deede of guifter as may more playnlie appeare and also doe give unto him by this my last will and Testamente, whome I doe make and ordeine, my whole & sole Executor of this my laste will and Testamente, In witnes whereof I have setto my hande & seale even vjth of May A’o d’ni 1599 and in the yere of the Raigne of o’r Soveraigne ladie Queene Elizabeth the fourtieth one by me John X Jenkyns The overseers of this my last will I doe appoynte John Gardener his marke X and Anthony Jackema’ Witnesses to the same Anthonie Bratt Hugh Parrishe & Nicholes Watts P’bat cora’ ……………………………………………… …………… Apud Ox’on … decimo octavo Octobris 1603 ……… &c Executori &c in forma ……………. …………………..
