  • I desire to be buried beside my late wife at Aston Rowant
  • All my debts and funeral expenses are to be paid.
  • I give all my estate and effects to my five children Elizabeth the wife of Charles Ranshead of the Three Crowns Greenwich (Kent), Samuel Quartermaine of Alfred Street Oxford, Martha the wife of James Brand of Waltham Abbey (Essex), Thomas Quartermaine of the York Hotel New Bridge Street (City of London) and Ann the wife of Samuel East of Creek Road Deptford in equal shares.
    My daughters' shares shall be for their own use, not subject to the debts etc of any husband, and their receipts shall be sufficient discharge.
    If any of my daughters die in my life time leaving issue, their share(s) go to their child(ren) in equal shares.
  • I appoint my sons Samuel and Thomas Executors ... I revoke all other wills.

This is the last Will and Testament of me Stephen Quartermaine late of Aston Rowant in the County of Oxford but now of Creek Road Deptford in the County of Kent I desire to be buried beside my late wife at Aston Rowant Oxfordshire I desire that all my debts and funeral expences be paid as soon as possible and subject thereto I give devise and bequeath All my Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever unto my five children Elizabeth the wife of Charles Ranshead of the Three Crowns Greenwich in the County of Kent Samuel Quartermaine of Alfred Street Oxford Martha the wife of James Brand of Waltham Abbey Essex Thomas Quartermaine of the York Hotel New Bridge Street in the City of London and Ann the wife of Samuel East of Creek Road Deptford aforesaid in equal shares and proportions and I direct the shares of my said daughters shall be for their own use and benefit and not to be subject to the debts or engagement of their present or any future husband or husbands and her or their separate receipt shall be sufficient discharge for the same and in the event of any or either of my said daughters dying in my life time leaving issue the share or share of such of them as shall so die shall go to her or their child or children in equal shares And I appoint my sons Samuel Quartermaine of Oxford and Thomas Quartermaine of London Executors of this my last will and I hereby revoke all other Wills by me at other times heretofore made and declare this only to be my last will and testament In witness whereof I the said Stephen Quartermaine the Testator have to this my last will set my hand and seal this twenty sixth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two _ Stephen Quartermaine
