  • I give my son Arthur Sadler £5, to be paid within six months after my decease, and a suit of my wearing apparel.
  • I give my son John Sadler 1s, and to his son James £5.
  • I give my son William Sadler of London, barber, £10.
  • I give my son Bartholomew Sadler £10.
  • I give my daughter Elizabeth Sadler £20 and a new quart silver tankard.
  • I give my daughters Joanna, Sarah, Jane, Mary and Ann £20 each.
  • All the above legacies are to be paid within one year after my decease.
  • I give all the residue of my estate real and personal to my dear and well-beloved wife Grace Sadler, whom I appoint sole Executrix, she paying my debts, legacies and funeral expenses.
  • I desire my cousin George Marriner of Oxford, yeoman, to assist my wife, and for his trouble I give him a gold ring of 20s value.

In the Name of God Amen. this Ninth day of December in the year
of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred & Nineteen I William Sadler of the City
of Oxford Taylor being sick & weak in Body but of sound & p'fect mind & memory (praised be
God therefore) Do make & Ordain this my last Will & Testament in man'er following I bequeath
my Soul to God who gave it hoping to be saved through the meritts of my Lord and Saviour
Jesus Christ, and my Body I commit to the Earth to be decently Buried at the discretion of
my Executrix hereafter named. And as to such Worldly Estate as it hath pleased God to bless me
with I do hereby Give and disspose therof in manner and forme following (that is to say)
Imprimis I do Give & bequeath unto my Son Arthur Sadler the Sum'e of Five Pounds of
lawfull money of Great Britain to be payd him by my Ex'trix hereafter named within Six
Months after my decease. And I do also Give him a Suit of my wearing Apparel.
Item I do Give and Bequeath unto my Son John Sadler One Shilling, And to his Son
James Five Pounds of lawfull money of Great Britain. Item I do Give and Bequeath
unto my Son William Sadler of London Barber the Sum'e of Ten Pounds of like lawfull
money. Item I do Give and bequeath unto my Son Bartholomew Sadler the Sum'e of
Ten Pounds of like lawfull money. Item I do Give and bequeath unto my Daughter
Elizabeth Sadler the Sum'e of Twenty Pounds of like lawfull money. And I do also Give
her a new Quart Silver Tankard. Item I do Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Joanna
Twenty Pounds of like lawfull money. Item I do Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Sarah
Twenty Pounds of like lawfull money. Item I do Give and bequeath unto my Daughter Jane
Twenty Pounds of like lawfull money. Item I do Give and bequeath unto my Daughter
Mary Twenty Pounds of like lawfull money. Item I do Give and bequeath unto my
Daughter Ann the Sume of Twenty Pounds of like lawfull money. All which last
menc'oned Legacys my Will is shall be payd by my Executrix herein after named within
one year next after my decease. Item All the rest and residue of my Estate both real &
p'sonal of what nature or kind whatsoever or in whose hands or Custody soever I do hereby Give
and bequeath unto my Dear and well beloved Wife Grace Sadler who I do make constitute &
appoint full Sole and whole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament She paying
my just Debts, Legacy's and Funerall Expenses. And lastly I do desire my Cousin
John George Marriner of Oxford afores'd Yeoman to be assisting to my said Wife in the Execuc'on
of this Will, and for his care & trouble therein I do hereby give him a Gold Ring of
Twenty Shillings value. In witnes whereof I the said William Sadler the Testator
above named to this my last Will and Testament have sett my hand & Seal the day &
year first above written.

Signed, Sealed, Published & declared by the
said William Sadler the Testator as & for his
last Will & Testament in the p'sence of us, who
subscribed our Names as Witnesses in the p'sence
of the Testator
