  • I revoke all former wills.
  • My body is to be buried in the churchyard of Watlington.
  • I give my loving wife Mercy for life my messuage etc in Crowmarsh Gifford, with its 3 acres of arable land dispersed in the common fields of Crowmarsh Gifford, and common of pasture for two cows, beasts or kine, to go, depasture and feed in the commons and commonable places of Crowmarsh, with all houses, edifices, buildings, barns, stables, malt houses, outhouses, orchards, gardens, backsides, ways, easements, profits, commodities and hereditaments belonging.
  • After her decease, I give [all of it] to my son Ralph Shervill and his heirs etc forever.
  • I give my son Ralph Shervill £5 to be paid at age 21.
  • I give my daughter-in-law Mary Tucker 5s, and her son John Tucker 12d.
  • My funeral expenses, debts and legacies being paid, I give all the residue of my goods, chattels, cattell, corn and household stuff to my wife Mercy whom I make sole Executrix.
  • I appoint my loving cousin John Lucas and my neighbour William Burnham overseers.

In the Name of God Amen The Nineteenth Day of May In the Second
yeare of the Reigne of our Soveraigne Lord and Lady King William and Queen Mary Over England &c
And in the yeare of our Lord God One Thousand Six Hundred and Ninety I Ralph Shervill of Watlington
in the County of Oxon Bricklayer, beinge sicke & weake in Body yet of sound and perfect memory (thanks bee given
to God) Doe make and Ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme ffollowing, Hereby revokeing and
Disanulling all Wills and Testaments heretofore by me made and Declared either in Words or writing and Doe Constitute &
Appoynt this for my last Will and Testament and no other. First I give and bequeath my Soule to Almighty God my
Creator, Assuredly Believeing that I shall Receive full pardon & free Remission of all my sinns and bee saved by
the precious Death & meritts of my Blessed Saviour and Redeemer Christ Jesus and my body to bee buried in Decent
manner in the Church yard of Watlington aforesaid And as touchinge such Worldly Goods and Estate which the Lord in
Mercy hath lent me I doe will and Dispose the same as ffolloweth Imprimis I give and Devise unto Mercy my
Loveing wife All that my Messuage or Tenement with Thappurtenances situate and being in Crowmish Gifford in the
said County of Oxon, And all those my Three Acres of arrable Land thereunto belonging lyeing and beinge Dispersed in the
Common feilds of Crowmish Gifford aforesaid, And Com'on of pasture for Two Cowes beasts or kine, to goe Depasture &
feed in the Commons and Com'onable places of Crowmish aforesaid, Together with all howses, Edifices, buildings, Barnes
stables, Mault houses, Outhouses, Orchards, Gardens, backsides, wayes Easements, profitts, Com'odities & Hereditaments what=
soever to the said Messuage or Tenement Lands and premisses belonging or in any wise Appertayninge, To have &
to hold my said Messuage or Tenement, Three Acres of arrable Land & Commons, and all other the said Devised
premisses with their and every of their Appurten'nces, unto Mercy my said wife, for and Dureing the Terme of her
naturall life, And from and after her Decease, I hereby give and Devise the said Messuage or Tenem't Three Acres
of arrable Land, Commons and all other the said Devised premisses with their and every of their Appurtenances Unto my
sonne Ralph Shervill and to his Heires and Assignes for ever. Item I give and bequeath unto my said sonne Ralph
Shervill the sum'e of ffive poundes of Lawfull money of England to bee paid unto him by my Executrix hereafter named
her Executors or Administrators when he my said sonne Ralph shall Accomplish the Age of One and Twenty yeares
Item I give and bequeath unto my Daughter in Law Mary Tucker the sum'e of ffive shillings of Lawfull money
of England And to her sonne John Tucker Twelve pence Item my ffunerall Expences Debts and Legacies
being paid and Discharged I give and bequeath All the Rest and Residue of my Goods Chattles Cattell Corne and
household stuffe unto Mercy my said wife whome I make and Ordaine sole and whole Executrix of this my last
Will and Testament And I nominate and Appoynt my Loveing Cousin John Lucas and my Neighbour William
Burnham Overseers of this my last will and Testament and Doe pray and Desire them to bee Ayding & assistinge
to my said Executrix and to see this my will performed According to the true intent and meaninge hereof In
Witnesse Whereof I the said Ralph Shervill have hereunto sett my hand & Seale the day and yeare first above written
