  • I give my loving wife Anne £5 to be paid within one year after my decease, and half of my household goods.
  • I give one acre of arable land in the fields of Deddington, recently bought from Ezekiell Weston of Deddington, to my grandson Hugh Stillgoe, son of Zachariah Stillgoe, and his heirs etc forever.
  • I give my son Zachariah Stillgoe's wife Anne 20s.
  • I give my daughter Mary, the now wife of Edward Bates, £3 to be paid within one year after my decease.
  • I give my son James's wife 20s.
  • I give my son Hugh's wife 20s.
  • I give one Cottage Cow Common, recently bought from John Busby of Deddington, carpenter, to my grandson Hugh Stillgoe, son of Hugh, and his heirs etc forever.
  • I give all my above sons' and daughters' children 20s each, to be paid at age 21.
  • I give all the rest of my goods, cattle and chattels to my three sons Zachariah, Hugh and James Stillgoe whom I make joint Executors, they paying my debts, legacies and funeral expenses.
  • I appoint my son [in-law] Edward Bates and John Masson, both of Deddington, as Overseers and give them 5s apiece each for their pains.

In the Name of God Amen the Twenty Seventh day of Aprill In ye
ffirst yeare of the Reigne of our Sov'aigne Lady Anne by the grace of God of
England Scotland ffrance and Ireland Queene Defender of the ffaith &c Annoqu'
Dom' 1702 I Hugh Stillgoe the Elder of Dadington in the County of Oxon yeoman being
weake in body but of good and p'fect memory Thanks be to Allmighty God for the same
And Calling to remembrance the uncertaine estate of this Transitory Life and that all
fflesh must yield unto Death when it shall please God to Call doe make Constitute ordaine and declare
this to be my Last Will and Testament in manner and form ffollowing Revoking and making void by these p'sents all and
every Testament and Testament Will and Wills whatsoever heretofore by me made and declared either by word or
by writing and this to be taken only for my Last Will and Testament and none other And first being penitent and
Sorrey for my Sins past most humbly desireing forgiveness for the same, I give and Committ my Soule unto Almighty
God my Saviour and Redeemer in whom and by the meritts of Jesus Christ I trust and belive assuredly to be Saved
And my body to be buried at the Discreasion of my Executors hereafter mentioned And now for the settleing
of my Temporall Estate which it hath pleased God to bestow upon me I doe order and dispose the same in manner
and forme ffollowing Item I give and bequeath unto my Loving Wife Anne the sum'e of ffive pounds of good and
Lawfull money of England and halfe of all my household goods Item I give and bequeath unto my granson Hugh
Stillgoe the son of Zachariah Stillgoe one Acre of Arrable Land Lying and being in the ffields of Dadington aforesaid
the which I Lately bought and purchased of one Ezekiell Weston of Dadington aforesaid to Remaine and be unto
him the said Hugh and his heires and assignes for Ever Item I give and bequeath unto my sone Zachariah Stillgoes
wife Anne the sum'e of Twenty shillings of good and Lawfull money of England Item I give and bequeath
unto my Daughter Mary the now wife of Edward Bates the sum'e of Three pounds of good and Lawfull money
Item I give and bequeath unto my sone James his wife the sum'e of Twenty shillings of good and Lawfull money
of England Item I give and bequeath unto my sone Hugh his wife the sum'e of Twenty shillings All my said
Legaceys given as aforesaid as to my said Wife and Daughter to be paid unto them within one yeare
after my Decease Item I give and bequeath unto my Granson Hugh Stillgoe the sone of Hugh one
Cottage Cow Common which I Lately bought and purchased of John Busby of Dadington Carpenter to
Remaine to him the said Hugh to him and his heires and Assignes for ever Item I Give and Bequeath unto
my unto all my said Sones and Daughters Children the sum'e of twenty shillings apece Each of Lawfull money
of England to be paid unto him or she as he or her [sic] shall Come to the ffull Age of one and twenty yeares

bequeath unto my Three Sones Zachariah Stillgoe Hugh Stillgoe and James Stillgoe whome I make
them Joynt and Soule Executors of this my Last Will and Testament they paying all my Debts and
Legacies and Dischargeing my ffunerall Expences And I esire [sic] and appoint my Sone Edward Bates
and John Masson both of Dadington aforesaid Overseers of this my Last will to whom of them
I give ffive shillings apeece each for theire paines In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand
and Seale the day and yeare first above Written
