  • ... revoking all former wills.
  • My body ... is to be buried ... in the vault in the church of Radley [beside] my late dear husband Sir George Stonehouse Baronet.
  • I give the poor of Radley £20 to be distributed as my Executors think fit at £5 pa for four years after my decease.
  • I give my daughter the Rt Hon the Lady Byron one dozen of silver plate trenchers marked and engraven with my Coat of Arms.
  • I give my grandson John Stonehouse, son of my son Sir John Stonehouse, £50.
  • I give my granddaughter Margaret Stonehouse, daughter of my son Sir John Stonehouse, £100.
  • I give Mrs Margaret Hide all my silver plate that usually stands over the chimney in the chamber where I usually lodge, and which is commonly used in that chamber.
  • I give my servants John Pretty and his wife Sarah £10 apiece
  • I give to Margaret the wife of Edward Eling £20.
  • I also give Sarah Pretty and Margaret Eling all my wearing clothes and apparel equally divided.
  • I give all my other servants who are living with me at the time of my death half a year's wages more than what is due.
  • I give my servant Henry Newberry £5 if he is living with me at the time of my decease.
  • I give my son Sir John Stonehouse all my horses, cows, sheep, corn and grain (growing, cut or reaped), all my hay, ploughs, carts, implements of husbandry and all my other stock in the yards, backsides, barns, outhouses, stables or fields of Radley.
  • All the rest of my goods, chattels, ready money, jewels, rings, plate, debts, bills, bonds, specialties, writings and securities for money, all money due and all my other estate real and personal I give to my son James Stonehouse and his executors etc forever.
  • If my son Sir John Stonehouse troubles, molests or sues my son James for any matter relating to this will, or for any legacies given to James or any other legatee, his legacy will be void, and I then give John's legacy to James, whom I make sole Executor.

IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN I Dame Margaret Stonehouse of Radley in the County of Berks widdow being at this present weake in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God for the same and considering the uncertainty of my life and the frailty of humane nature and being willing to settle my Estate before I goe home and be noe more seene Doe this six and twentieth day of January in the yeare of our Lord one thousand six hundred ninety four make this my last Will and Testament hereby revokeing all former Wills at any time by me heretofore made and this is to be taken only to be my last Will and Testament and first and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hopeing and assuredly believing in and though the merritts of my blessed Saviour and Redeemer Jesus Christ to be saved and that my soul and body will have a ioyfull resurrection and my body I commend to the Earth from whence it came to be buried at the charges of my Executor hereafter named in decent manner in the vault in the Church of Radley aforesaid by my late deare husband Sir George Stonehouse Barronett deceased according to the discretion of my sonne Sir John Stonehouse Barronett and James Stonehouse Esquire And as to the Worldly Estate wherewith it has pleased God to blesse me I dispose thereof as followeth and first I give and bequeath unto and amongst the poor of the Parish of Radley the summe of twenty pounds to be paid and distributed unto and amongst such of the said poore as my Executors shall think fitt in four equall yearly payments (that is to say) five pounds a yeare for four yeares next after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter the right honourable the Lady Byron one dozen of silver plate trenchers which are marked and engraven with my Coate of Arms Item I doe give and bequeath unto my Grandson John Stonehouse sonn of my sonne Sir John Stonehouse the summe of fifty pounds Item I give and bequeath to my grandaughter Margaret Stonehouse daughter of my sonne Sir John Stonehouse the summe of one hundred pounds Item I give and bequeath unto Mrs Margaret Hide all my silver plate that doe usually stand over the Chimney in the Chamber where I usually lodge the which is commonly used in the said Chamber Item I give and bequeath unto my servants John Pretty and Sarah his wife and to each of them tenn pounds a piece I give and bequeath unto Margaret the wife of Edward Eling the summe of tweny pounds Item I doe also give and bequeath unto the said Sarah the wife of the said John Pretty and Margaret the wife of the said Edward Eling all my wearing Cloathes and apparrell of what nature sort kind or quallity soever to be equally divided between them Item I give and bequeath to all other my servants that shall be living with me at the time of my death half a yeares wages more than what shall be due to them at the time of my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my servant Henry Newberry five pounds if he be living with me at the time of my decease Item I give and bequeath unto my sonne Sir John Stonehouse all my Horses Cowes Sheep corne and graine of what nature or kind soever be it standing lying growing cutt or reaped and all my hay ploughs carts implements of husbandry and all other my stock lyng or being in the yards backsides barnes outhouses stables or fields of Radley aforesaid Item all the rest of my goods chattells ready money jewells rings plate debts bills bonds specialties writings and securityes for moneyes and all money thereon due or to be due and all other my Estate real and personall of what nature kind or quallity soever and wheresoever I give and bequeath unto James Stonehouse my sonne his Executors and Assignes for ever And my will and meaning is and I doe hereby will and declare that if and in case my sonne Sir John Stonehouse shall trouble molest hinder or sue my said sonne James Stonehouse either in law or equity for any cause matter or thing touching or relating to this my Will or any the Legacies or bequests hereby given or intended to be given to my said sonne James Stonehouse or any other Legatee in this my Will mentioned that then the Legacy guift or bequest hereby given or bequeathed unto my sonne Sir John Stonehouse shall cease determine and be absolutely and utterly void and then I give and bequeath the Legacy or bequest by this my Will given or bequeathed unto my sonne Sir John Stonehouse unto my sonne James Stonehouse and his Assignes whom I doe hereby make and constitute full and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament IN witness whereof I the said Margaret Stonehouse have hereunto sett my hand and seale the day and yeare first above written Margaret Stonehouse. Signed sealed and published by the said Dame Margaret Stonehouse to be her last Will and Testament in the presence of John Stonehouse Chr Blower Robert Robinson

THIS Testament was proved at London before the venerable and noted John Richard Raines Knight Doctor of Law Master Custodian or Commissioner of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury legally constituted the last day of the month of April in the year of our Lord one thousand six hundred and ninety five by the oath of James Stonehouse the son and Executor named in the said Will to whom power was given faithfully to administer.
