  • I revoke all former wills.
  • I give to Anne my wife the Messuage or Tenement etc in GLS Little Barrington which I lately purchased of John Barnswell? gent and now in the possession of Mr Christopher Briggs; to her and her assigns during her life. But if she remarries then my son Thomas and his heirs etc shall have the premises.
  • After the death or remarriage of my wife I give [the above property] to my son Thomas and his heirs etc forever.
  • If my son Thomas dies without issue then my son Timothy and his heirs etc shall have [the property] forever
  • I give to my six sons and four daughters 5s apiece to be paid at my wife's day of marriage or hour of death as she shall think fit.
  • I appoint my wife sole executrix ... giving her all my goods, cattells and chattels not already bequeathed.
  • If she remarries she shall have only £30, and the residue of all the goods etc are to be equally divided amongst my surviving children, to be done by my wife and brother-in-law Thomas Margetts (except the bed and bedstead etc which was hers).

In the Name of God Amen I Valentine Strong of Taynton in the Countie of Oxford ffreemason being sicke in body but of sound and perfect memory (Thanks be given to god) And knowing the certainty of Death and the uncertaintie thereof doe hereby make this my last will and testament in manner and forme following (That is to say) First I bequeath my Soule into the hands of Almighty god hoping assuredly to have remission of all my sinnes and my body to the earth to be buried in such decentie as my Executrix hereinafter named shall think fitt And for such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased god to lend me I give and bequeath as hereafter is particularly expressed And I do hereby revoke all former will and wills by me heretofore made First I give and bequeath to Anne my wife the Messuage or Tenement with the appurtenances situate and being in Little Barrington in the Countie of Gloucester which I lately purchased of John Barnswell? gent and now in the possession of Mr Christopher Briggs or his assigns To have and to hold the same Messuage or tenement with the appurtenances unto the said Anne and her assigns for and during her natural life But if in case shee shallbe married to any person or persons whatsoever and doe not or shall not keep herself unmarried Then my will and meaning is that my sonne Thomas his heirs and assigns shall personally have hold and enjoy the same premises and every part and parcell thereof Item I give and bequeath the said messuage or tenement and all and singular other the premises with the appurtenances unto my said Sonne Thomas To have and to hold the same premises and every parte and parcell thereof unto the said Thomas Strong his heirs and assigns forever From and after the death and decease or day of marriage of my said wife which shall first happen Provided nevertheless and my will and meaning is that if in case my said sonne Thomas shall happen to dye without issue Then my sonne Tymothy his heirs or assigns shall have hold and enjoye All and singular the premises forever Item I give and bequeath to my six sonnes and four daughters five shillings a piece to be paid unto them at my wives day of marriage or houre of death as she shall think fitt And I doe hereby constitute nominate and appoint my said wife to be sole executrix of this my last will and testament giveing unto her all and singular my goods cattells and chattels hereby unbequeathed Provided that is in case she shall at any tyme hereafter bee married Then my will and meaning was and is that she shall have only Thirtie pounds of lawful money of England and the residue of all the goods and Chattels to be equally divided amongst all my Children that shallbe then living and to be done by my said wife and brother in law Thomas Margetts (except the bedd and bedsteadd which was hers and all thereunto belonging) In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal The Third day of October Anno Regio Caroli secunde xiij Amoq Dom 1661 Valentine Strong Signed Sealed and Published in the presence of us Thomas Strange and Symon Randolph
