  • I give £30 to my dear daughter Jane, wife of John Besley of Crowell, farmer, for her sole use and not liable to the debts etc of her husband, to be paid within twelve months after my decease, her receipt alone being a sufficient discharge to my Executor.
  • I give £100 to my son William White of Chalford. labourer, to be paid within twelve months after my decease.
  • I give £30 to my son Richard White of BKM Longwick to be paid within twelve months after my decease.
  • I give £5 each to my sons Eden White of Kingston Blount, farmer, and John White of South Weston, labourer, to be paid within six months after my decease.
  • I give £5 to my daughter Elizabeth, wife of John Smith of South Weston, labourer, for her sole use and not liable to the debts etc of her husband, to be paid within six months after my decease, her receipt alone being a sufficient discharge to my Executor
  • I give £5 to my dear daughter Mary Hicks of BKM Aylesbury, widow, relict of Thomas Hicks of Aylesbury, baker, to be paid within six months after my decease.
  • I give all the residue of my ready money, goods and chattels, with all the live and dead stock, implements of husbandry, corn and hay in the ricks and barns, both threshed and unthreshed, also all the household furniture, linen, china, plate, trinkets and wearing apparel in and around the house and farm where I now dwell at Chalford and all my personal estate to my son Thomas White and his heirs etc forever, charged with the payment of the above legacies.

In the name of God Amen
This is the last Will and Testament of me Eden White the elder of
Chalford in the Parish of Aston Rowant in the County of Oxford ffarmer
which I make ordain and declare in manner and form following, (that is to
say) ffirst and principally I commend my soul into the hands of Almighty
God and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently and privately buried
wherever I may happen to die and as to such worldly Estate it hath pleased
Almighty God to bestow on me I give and dispose thereof in manner and
form following I give devise and bequeath to my dear daughter Jane the
Wife of John Besley of Crowell in the said County of Oxford ffarmer the
sum of thirty pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain Current
in England unto and for her sole and separate use and behoof and not
subject or liable in any manner to the debts engagements or control of her

present or any future husband she may happen to marry to be paid to her
by my Executor hereinafter named within twelve calendar months next after
my decease whose receipt alone shall be a sufficient discharge to my said
Executor for the same I also give devise and bequeath unto my son William
White of Chalford aforesaid Labourer the sum of one hundred pounds of good
and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to him by my said Executor
within twelve calendar months next after my decease I also give devise and
bequeath unto my son Richard White of Long Wick in the County of Bucks
ffarmer the sum of thirty pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain to
be paid to him by my said Executor also hereinafter named within twelve calendar
months next after my decease I also give devise and bequeath unto my sons Eden
White of Kingston Blount in the County of Oxford Farmer and John White of
South Weston in the same County Labourer the sum of five pounds each of good
and lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to them by my said Executor
respectively within six months next after my decease I also give devise and
bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the Wife of John Smith of South Weston
aforesaid Labourer the sum of five pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain
for her sole and separate use and behoof and not subject to the debts engagements or
control of her present or any future husband she may happen to marry to be paid
to her by my said Executor within six calendar months next after my decease
whose receipt alone shall be good and sufficient discharge for the same I also
give devise and bequeath unto my dear daughter Mary Hicks of Aylesbury in
the County of Bucks Widow and relict of Thomas Hicks of the same place
Baker deceased the sum of five pounds of good and lawful money of Great Britain
as aforesaid to be paid to her by my said Executor hereinafter named also within
six Calendar months next after my decease As to all the rest and residue
of my ready moneys goods chattels together with all the live and dead stock
implements of husbandry Corn and Hay standing in the Ricks and in the
Barns as well as threshed as unthreshed and all the household furniture linen
china plate trinkets and wearing apparel that may be in the house about the
premises and on the ffarm wherein I now dwell and occupy at Chalford aforesaid
and all my personal Estate whatsoever and wherever whereof I shall die
possessed I give devise and bequeath the same unto my son Thomas White
his heirs executors administrators and assigns for ever But nevertheless charged
and chargeable with the true payment of all the Legacies hereinbefore by me
given and bequeath [sic] And Lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and
appoint my said son Thomas White sole Executor of this my last Will and
Testament hereby revoking all former and other Wills by me at any time heretofore
made. In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament contained
in two sheets of paper set my hand and seal that is to say my hand only to
the first sheet and to this last sheet thereof my hand and seal this twentieth
day of December in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and
twenty nine. Eden White --(O) -- Signed sealed published and declared by
the said Eden White the Elder the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament
in the presence of us who at his request in his presence and in the sight of
each other have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto. The mark X of Clara
Poole of Chalford aforesaid Servant -- J'no H'y Cooke of Watlington Oxon

Proved at London 5th August 1833 before The Worshipful William
Calverley Curteis Doctor of Laws and Surrogate by the oath of Thomas White
the son and sole Executor to whom Admon was granted having been first sworn
duly to administer.
