Probate 7 Jun 1688 London (PCC) ... Winchester Draper and John Basse Executors ...
Transcriber's and Editor's Notes
She named her "cousin John BASSE" as an Executor. It is here assumed that she meant her cousin, not his father of the same name, but users should be aware of the problem
"Buried in linen" refers to the then law (made for the benefit of the wool industry) that all bodies had to be buried in a woollen shroud on pain of a fine.
The wretched woman called almost everyone "cousin", though many are fairly obviously nephews, nieces etc.
The contributor offers Ascott baptisms of Joane W (1620) and Mary W (1623), and marriages of John DRAPER to Ann W (1629) and John BASSE to Mary W (1648 London), but the allocation of other real relationships is left as an exercise for the user, the editor being afraid of getting it wrong :-)
There are two possible interpretations of the unpunctuated section which includes "Anne Johnsons Arthur Mary Johnsons ..." There may have been a child called Arthur Mary JOHNSONS, or it may be an error whereby Arthur's surname was omitted. There is, however, no separate "Mary" -- a very common girl's name -- which might suggest the "error" interpretation. No Oxon baptisms can be found, but though the Johnsons marriage was at Duns Tew (1659) the husband is recorded as being from GLS Kempsford where (perhaps) the baptisms took place. Here the child(ren) are summarised (and indexed) both as "Arthur Mary" and separately as Arthur and Mary -- users should make their up own minds as to which is the most likely.
The forenames "Winchester" and "Tisdall" seem to be used for both sexes.
The following details are believed to be true but should not be totally relied upon:
Testatrix: Daughter of Thomas (1626 qv); Granddaughter of Edmond (1613 qv); Great-granddaughter of Thomas (1575 qv) & Elizabeth (1584 qv).
  Translated and paragraphed.
with some of the standard preamble and "legalese" removed.
