  • My body is to be buried in the churchyard of Ascott.
  • I give 4d to the mother church of Oxford.
  • I give 12d towards the repairs of the church of Ascott .
  • I give 6d to the poor men's box there.
  • I give my one yard land in Ascott called Halls yard land and a close etc belonging to it to my eldest son Edmond Winchester.
  • I give all my lands and tenements etc in GLS Tewkesbury to my son Henry Winchester and the heirs of his body, and for lack of such issue to my right heirs forever.
  • But all the above lands and tenements are to remain in the use and occupation of my wife Elizabeth for life if she remains unmarried and not otherwise.
  • I give £13 13s 4d each to my daughters Margerie and Jane, to be paid at marriage if they marry with the consent of their mother, otherwise to have nothing.
  • I give my mare at GLS Stone, also one ____ filly going in Wychwood Forest and my wearing apparel to my brother Symon Winchester.
  • My debts and legacies being paid, I give all the residue of my goods, chattels, debts, leases, takings, rents and reversions to my wife Elizabeth whom I make sole Executrix.
  • I make my well-beloved son-in-law William Peseley of Ascott, yeoman, and John Skaye of Ardley, husbandman, my overseers, and I give them 3s 4d each for their pains ... I revoke all former wills.

In the name of god Amen The xijth Daie of August in the yere
of owre Lord god one thousand five hundreth threscore and fyftene I Thomas Winchester
of Askott under W’chwood in the Countie of Oxford yeoman being whole of bodie and of good
and perfitt remembrance Lawde and praise be unto Allmightie god therfore Doe make and
ordeine this my present testament concerning herin my Last will in manner and forme following
that is to saie ffirst I bequeath my soule into the hands of god my maker and to his sone Jesus
Christ my onlie saviour and redeamer And my bodye to be be buried in the churchyarde of Askott
Aforesaid Item I give to the mother churche of Oxford iiij’d Item I give to the churche of Askot aforesaid
towards the reparac'ons of the same xij’d Item I give to the poore mens box there vj’d Item I give unto
Edmond Winchester my eldest sonne my one yard Land in Askott aforesaid called Halls yard Land and one
Close belonging to the same with thapp’tinc's Item I give unto Henry Winchester my sone all my Lands & teneme’ts
